Why You Should Test Flash Memory Storage Before Using. Never Use A USB Flash Drive, Memory Card Or MP Player To Store Files Or Photos Before Testing The Actual Capacity To Avoid Data And File Loss.

Posted by KittyFireFlash on June 19, 2012

All flash memory should be tested for real capacity before using. Your best option remains the free to use software H2testw 1.4. SOSFakeFlash has promoted the use of H2testw for over five years. To understand why you should read: H2testw 1.4 – Gold Standard In Detecting USB Counterfeit Drives. Download links are provided, but you need to understand why you should use this software, so read first. The nice thing about H2testw is the report it can produce for you on your flash memory and it’s REAL capacity. If you are wise enough to use H2testw beforehand, you could avoid data and file loss if the chips are defective or manipulated. We call that ‘Fake Flash’. It is still very popular. You will find usb flash drives, memory cards and mp players being digitally altered to lie about their real size. Super sizing small flash storage chips is easy to do if you know how. Controller usb chips that are vunerable and easy to manipulate are used by counterfeiters all the time. Little cheap price for flash memory leads to little small storage flash memory chips – your illusion satisfied, your data lost.

In North America, flash memory prices in retail stores continue to drop! It is a dream come true. Almost risk free, safe. Yes, buying memory cards, mp players and usb flash drives are really cheap in retail chain stores. You won’t find 256GB flash drives very often, or even 128GB flash drives. They will not be in dump bins or on display racks, they will be under lock and key. Why? Because 128GB and 256GB is still very expensive.

Survey Flash Memory Prices Retail Stores. SOSFakeFlash Requests Your Participation. Please Assist. 2012 Global Price Drop For Flash Memory? Is It Cheap? New Trends. What Is The Real Story On Lower Flash Memory Prices?

The United States usually has the cheapest discounts for flash memory in retail stores, but they are getting cheap in Canada too!

At Staples in Canada recent prices?

a. Lexar 32GB TwistTurn USB Flash Drive – $19.98
b. SanDisk 32GB Extreme SDHC UHS-I Card (Class 10) – $69.96
c. Lexar 32GB SDHC Card (Class 4) – $19.92
d. Staples Relay 16GB MicroSDHC Card with SD Adapter – $24.90 (regular price, not on sale)

Can internet sites like eBay compete, offer the same low prices as retail stores for usb flash drives, memory cards or MP Players? Almost always, NEVER! Retail stores use their power to buy hugh qualities, that is how they get their special discounts. Retail stores only source their purchases for flash memory from authorized resellers or buy direct from the manufacturers. So the chance of them buying fakes or counterfeit flash memory is almost zero. Can eBay resellers say the same? If you don’t believe us, you need to research SOSFakeFlash, go to Published, hit Ctrl End on your keyboard to get to the first articles we published, work your way back. Then decide. If you think the problem is over, visit FakeMemorySentinel to see the most recent warning on internet sellers, especially on eBay.

SOSFakeFlash Quick Note 20100206

Posted by KittyFireFlash on February 6, 2010

TeamFatigueWe are racing to build the new eBay Fake Flash Memory seller lists. The current lists have 848 sellers, we now have 913 documented! You don’t have very much time left, to report in to SOSFakeFlash if your seller is not on the current ones!

If your testing proves you have a fake flash memory item, please make sure to leave SOSFakeFlash in your feedback! It helps other buyers to find help at our site! If you don’t have time to warn other buyers for your seller, “Google SOSFakeFlash” in feedback makes a difference!

If you left positive feedback, you can still have the last word, do follow up feedback and let everyone know the truth!

The FrankenFlash Project and SOSFakeFlash are noticing eBay is scrambling. There are changes in how disputes are to be settled. At the moment, it is not clear what this will mean. A lot depends on which eBay site you bought the item from and your eBay country of registration. SOSFakeFlash will tell you more once we have additional information.

We have been told that eBay sellers in the Orient do not have to paid listing fees to eBay if they advertise on ebay.com! This is discrimination.

It gives an unfair advantage to eBay sellers in the Orient at the expense of American eBay sellers! Many people are unaware of this.

In the fight against fake memory products, SOSFakeFlash has only one conclusion, eBay has sold it’s soul.

It is important you do not take “No” for an answer in dealing with eBay or PayPal. It does not matter if you have exceeded the 45 day claim window. They know what is going on and will want you to give up. Don’t!

Analysis of data and victims indicates a more aggressive approach is needed. A new team is being formed and they do not have to follow the rules of SOSFakeFlash or the general rules of the FrankenFlash Project. We will tell you more about them when we know more…. SOSFakeFlash as a zero tolerance policy. The new group has minus zero tolerance.

Because victims are not being heard by eBay or PayPal, more are choosing not to create a dispute as “item not described”, but simply as item not received. It is not “correct behavior”. SOSFakeFlash does not recommend this action. However, when a seller is documented and if eBay refuses to take action against a seller, or assist in warning buyers and refunding them – the action can be understood.

The burden lies on eBay to address the issue of Fake Flash Memory items: memory cards, usb flash drives, mpx players. Seven years is enough!

Is it allowed to sell children, firearms or poison on eBay? No.

If eBay can not stop the sell of fake memory products, they have an obligation to ban the items for sale. Period! No excuses are accepted. If you reached this site, you are most likely a victim of fake flash memory.

You can make a difference. Fight back and say “NO“!

hitech2day Inside A Fake MP Player Sold By Ebay Fake Seller – Proof Of Fake MP Players Sold On Ebay Exposed

Posted by KittyFireFlash on May 20, 2009

SOSFakeFlash publishs a lot of consumer alerts on fake flash sellers prowling ebay for buyer victims. Evidence is collected and stored in a database. eBayer id’s, eBay item numbers, the model sold by the seller along with other important information.

It leads to alerts being issued on the internet and sellers being added to the famous eBay Fake Flash Sellers List. As time goes by the counts against sellers increase. Some times a victim will report in months after the fact, long after the ebay listings have disappeared. The project works hard to preserve information. Alerts are issued after the information has been collected, not before! Necessary given eBay’s recent behavior of shutting fake flash sellers down quickly to be able to remove all traces of lising information.

SOSFakeFlash, in this article will take you inside of a fake MP Player purchased on eBay and show you how it is possible to prove it is a false capacity, confirming what the program H2testw 1.4 reports in capacity testing.

Paypal likes to demand that victims return fake flash usb drives or mp players or memory cards to get a refund. “Return the crime to the criminal!” they order. On other occasions they will dismiss the test results of H2testw 1.4 and demand you find somebody at Southby’s to certify that you received a counterfeit.

The FrankenFlash Project has been in operation for over 14 months, they know something about fake mp players, usb flash drives and memory cards. The simple fact is, when the devices are taken apart – the truth is revealed. It only confirms what the program H2testw 1.4 reports. The secret? It lies in the actual flash drive nand memory chips in the device!

For most victims, taking apart a fake MP Player is not a task they feel up to. The latest contributor, Niko is up to the task and is presenting his findings for everyone to see! He has two fake MP Players to reveal to you, this is the first one sold by hitech2day. You will quickly see there is nothing “defective” here! It is clear deception on the part of fake flash sellers.

To PayPal and eBay, do pay attention! To fake flash sellers, watch out! We do our homework “dears “.

Listed on eBay hitech2day offered this model. Is it 16GB?

2108

When Niko opened the drive this is what he saw:

hitech2day-16GB-1

So what did the flash drive chip for storage show?

hitech2day-16GB-2

It was a samsung 904 k9lbgo8uom pcbo CAK468P2

If you visit InspectorTech’s site you will see the following post: Samsung Nand Flash – How To Decode Flash Storage Chips To Find True Capacity

and if you scroll down you can visit the samsung link. Give this a try. http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/partnumberDecoder.do

now enter the information characters for:

k9lbgo8uom

This is good practise for anyone with a samsung nand flash drive chip to try out!

There is no “m” available for the last character.

k9lbgo8uom

So click on search.

k9lbgo8uom-Results

So here we see the real chip size. It is 32G bit. 8 bits is a byte so we need to divide by 8. That makes 32Gb /8 = 4GB.

So eBay seller hitech2day has lied about the true capacity! hitech2day was not selling a 16GB MP Player but a 4GB MP Player. eBay, PayPal are you still with us? Can you do the math and follow the evidence? Do you really think ebay buyers are complaining without cause? If ebay members can do their homework, why can’t you? It’s not rocket science, you know.

Now the controller chip for the MP Player difficult to read in the photo:

hitech2day-16GB-3

It is:

AK2025
8L014BA 1LP

We can’t tell you much about it at the moment.

eBay members are not imagining things about the fake mp players being sold on eBay.

The problem is very real! Both eBay and PayPal are very much aware of it. Only they prefer to show a blind eye. After all, the money is good! The FrankenFlash project has observed that eBay and PayPal do not intend to put a stop to the traffic in fake mp players being sold.

You don’t believe us? Please have a look at this:

Stop this Multi-Million Dollar Fraud on eBay

Just how far back in time does it go? If you are a victim of a fake flash MP Player, make sure that you register there. You can also register for other fake flash items too! Let it grow! And grow! The FrankenFlash Project collects information too, so do not forget SOSFakeFlash or to report in! Every item matters and counts.

SOSFakeFlash issue’s alerts on the internet to warn and assist victims. They can not and will not issue an alert without evidence. It is very powerful! It is a record and it stays forever. They also will NOT remove an alert! If a seller on eBay is caught, the alert stays!

Niko is currently searching for a solution to repair this fake MP Player. If one is found he will present it to everyone.

Keep an eye out for Niko’s other fake flash MP seller and his repair solution coming soon.
