We are racing to build the new eBay Fake Flash Memory seller lists. The current lists have 848 sellers, we now have 913 documented! You don’t have very much time left, to report in to SOSFakeFlash if your seller is not on the current ones!
If your testing proves you have a fake flash memory item, please make sure to leave SOSFakeFlash in your feedback! It helps other buyers to find help at our site! If you don’t have time to warn other buyers for your seller, “Google SOSFakeFlash” in feedback makes a difference!
If you left positive feedback, you can still have the last word, do follow up feedback and let everyone know the truth!
The FrankenFlash Project and SOSFakeFlash are noticing eBay is scrambling. There are changes in how disputes are to be settled. At the moment, it is not clear what this will mean. A lot depends on which eBay site you bought the item from and your eBay country of registration. SOSFakeFlash will tell you more once we have additional information.
We have been told that eBay sellers in the Orient do not have to paid listing fees to eBay if they advertise on ebay.com! This is discrimination.
It gives an unfair advantage to eBay sellers in the Orient at the expense of American eBay sellers! Many people are unaware of this.
In the fight against fake memory products, SOSFakeFlash has only one conclusion, eBay has sold it’s soul.
It is important you do not take “No” for an answer in dealing with eBay or PayPal. It does not matter if you have exceeded the 45 day claim window. They know what is going on and will want you to give up. Don’t!
Analysis of data and victims indicates a more aggressive approach is needed. A new team is being formed and they do not have to follow the rules of SOSFakeFlash or the general rules of the FrankenFlash Project. We will tell you more about them when we know more…. SOSFakeFlash as a zero tolerance policy. The new group has minus zero tolerance.
Because victims are not being heard by eBay or PayPal, more are choosing not to create a dispute as “item not described”, but simply as item not received. It is not “correct” behavior”. SOSFakeFlash does not recommend this action. However, when a seller is documented and if eBay refuses to take action against a seller, or assist in warning buyers and refunding them – the action can be understood.
The burden lies on eBay to address the issue of Fake Flash Memory items: memory cards, usb flash drives, mpx players. Seven years is enough!
Is it allowed to sell Children, fire arms or poison on eBay? No.
If eBay can not stop the sell of fake memory products, they have an obligation to ban the items for sale. Period! No excuses are accepted. If you reached this site, you are most likely a victim of fake flash memory.
You can make a difference. Fight back and say “NO“!

Last call to report your eBay fake flash seller for the new lists. Please do not delay. New lists will be published during the week of February 7th – 13th, 2010.
Are you a fake flash memory newbie? Find this site a little confusing? Leave your suggestions on this post. The SOSFakeFlash site, part of the FrankenFlash project has been in operation since 2008. A lot of information exists at this site, victims before you have contributed their experience and insights.
After we publish the new lists and outstanding alerts, the project will start focusing on redesign of the internet sites. Each site has a different task and mission. SOSFakeFlash is asking new victims to offer suggestions for “getting started”. We would like to add a new tab to the menu bar and will be demoting some existing ones. Do you have a name or suggestion for a menu item name, for first time readers? It can’t be more than 11 characters long.
Please get your eBay fake flash memory sellers to us in time for the next lists. If you chose not to include your eBay id, we can’t add to the database, the record will not be accepted as it is a required field. No alert is issued against a seller unless we can record a victim. Those are the rules.
Fake Flash Angels, you are doing a wonderful job! To anyone who warns other buyers for an eBay fraudulent seller, victims say thank you, we do too!

Fake (false capacity) flash memory products being sold on eBay continues to grow: usb flash drives, mp3 mp4 players and memory cards. Fraudulent eBay sellers remain defiant and show no signs of stopping or slowing down. eBay does little to prevent sellers from listing false capacity memory advertised at 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB, despite so many complaints from members.
The sale of 16GB fakes remains steady. The escalation in 32GB and 64GB advertised capacity continues at an alarming rate. Some sellers so bold and daring as to list 120GB advertised capacity, a size of flash memory that does not exist. Bits and Bytes math is not the fraudulent sellers concern, snaring consumers searching for unrealistic bargain prices is. Fake flash memory sellers on eBay are only too happy to oblige in providing the phantasies. Only the phantasies soon change to nightmares, once the actual capacity of flash storage chips are exceeded.

Fake Flash Memory is false capacity memory. Flash nand memory chips have been reprogrammed to lie about their true capacity. They trick operating systems into believing they are bigger then they really are. Once you exceed the real capacity of the memory chip, you will lo0se data and files. There is no place on the memory chip.
Fakes are created by reprogramming the flash memory chip with special software. Certain usb flash controller chips have flaws. Fake Flash Memory sellers always seem to use the same chip sets.
Products affected are usb flash drives, MPx players and memory cards. A strong indicator of a fake, is the price paid. See Global Report – eBay Fake Memory 2008 – 2009
To make sure you did not purchase a fake flash memory item, you should always test it for capacity. The best tool is H2testw. It is free. To learn more about it read: H2testw 1.4 – Gold Standard In Detecting USB Counterfeit Drives

Venting is indeed good for frauded eBay Members who purchased false capacity SD Cards, Pen Sticks, MPx Players on eBay. Action? Even Better!
Recently a comment arrived from diagon-elly on mygodyeah. mygodyeah was a really bad case.
diagon-elly said:
“mygodyeah” is no longer a registered ebay member. Even though I know that he’ll be back in no time or has several accounts already, I won. I and the other buyer kicked his Chinese butt!!! I got my money back too and I hope that every buyer I wrote to, has opened a dispute too.
It brought back many memories of fights by eBay members to remove fraudulent sellers. diagon-elly channeled the anger of being frauded with a dangerous false capacity usb flash drive into positive action – warning others. Refusing to let this id get away with more fraud.
mygodyeah belongs to the 3totrade counterfeit ring operating on eBay. There are currently 16 eBay ids on file, only one is still active and brazenly selling fake memory usb pen sticks, obamastores .
It’s amazing how the last id active of the Don Of Fake Flash In the Orient, continues. Strange, but it is not the last time I said this…the last active id when writing about the Don Of Fake Flash. Soon we will be offering victims a little guided tour, to the mystery address. The Don has claimed so many victims these last two years. An opportunity for a little undercover photo shoot presented itself.
Why obmamastores continues is a mystery, perhaps not enough committed victims like diagon-elly possibly. Unlike most fake flash memory sellers in the Orient, obamastores follows in the footsteps of the early id’s, offering a fair amount of real capacity for the 32GB advertised size – 4GB flash memory chips often grade D.
On the subject of “butts” readers, it is not only Chinese butts that needs kicking.
It is true, though, they do represent the majority of fake flash memory sellers currently operating on eBay.
SOSFakeFlash and eBay members have kicked butts for many nationalities and countries these last two years. Here are some memorable ones from the past:
Canada: rickysell819 Ebay Fake Flash Seller – Canada – Case Of Ricky The Tricky
India: Ebay Fake Flash Sellers Alert India – A Mystery In New Delhi
America: Investigation On Seller Using eBay Id guruelectronics Continues At SOSFakeFlash
Australia: fufu$$ And The Counterfeit Kingston DT150 64GB DataTraveler USB Flash Drives
United Kingdom: naffy23k eBay Fake Flash Seller vs H2testw and eBay Victims
Europe: mpt555 aka arifqammar Ebay Seller Playing With Fire – Ukraine.
Frankly there is no eBay country where it is “safe” to buy flash memory products. Sad but true. The only real difference is how much you will spend for your item (see Global Report – eBay Fake Memory 2008 – 2009 for the prices eBay sellers charge for fakes by the 5 regions in the world).
The majority of fake mpx players, memory cards and usb flash drives come from eBay sellers registered in the Orient. It is impossible to dispute this. You only need to look at the fake flash country categories for sellers on SOSFakeFlash’s category list to see how many sellers have been caught by area of the world.
Unfortunately, in the mind of consumers around the world, the Orient means cheap, discounted. This may be true for many products, but it is not true for flash memory technology. 80% of the cost is the flash memory chip, something buyers are unaware of and also resellers. Until people understand this fact, eBay members will continue to be victims.
If you are a victim and you are angry – channel your energy into something positive. Warn other buyers of your seller. Hound eBay and PayPal. Tell your friends, family and colleagues at work about your experience. As diagon-elly reports, kicking “butt”, warning others and removing a fake flash memory seller can be a very satisfying experience. Positive too.
Vent, focus, act!
