pigpingxian Ebay Fake Flash Seller Alert – China

Posted by KittyFireFlash on January 19, 2009

pigpingxian is an eBay seller of Counterfeit (Fake) Flash USB drives. Based in China this seller sold more than 1200+ fake 8GB flash drives. Victims of fake flash on eBay by reporting in to SOSFakeFlash provide a lot of supporting information – not just data. Here is a demonstration of how you the victim of fake flash increase evidence by reporting:

In the case of pigpingxian….

Two victims found the 8GB advertised capacity to be only 2GB for their usb flash drives.

One victim – Kitty2GB had an interesting observation:

Sent e-mail requesting replacement and got a partial refund, e-mailed again saying not acceptable as I wanted a replacement and within seconds got the rest of my money refunded.Obviously he did not have a Hello Kitty 8gb drive to send to me, & didn’t offer me another style of 8GB drive, although he is selling them.

While victim another ColdFlash reported:

bid, won, payed via paypal and recieved 8GB PEN DRIVE USB 2.0U FLASH MEMORY STICK (LEATHER B#). Unfortunately I noticed later that eBay is full filled of counterfeit flash memories. And I became a victim. If I only knew before, I wouldn’t even ever bid one.Drive size that was advertized was 8GB but actual drive size that was tested was 2GB. Drive also fails general usage test as I couldn’t copy back files from flash drive when it was copied almost full of it’s capasity. Here are my results from H2testw v1.4 ….

Both different models. Kitty2GB was indeed correct, pigpingxian couldn’t offer a replacement, ColdFlash with his independent report to SOSFakeFlash confirmed Kitty2GB’s suspicions. The speedy refund of full after first offering a partial made that pretty clear. pigpingxian couldn’t offer a replacement in another model – he didn’t have any true capacity 8GB usb flash drives to offer. He refunded Kitty2GB quickly to hush things up. The guilt is cyrstal.

Reporting in to SOSFakeFlash is very helpful to victims. The cold hard data facts you contribute are necessary, but your personal observations and stories are just as important.

Prompt me, is it possible to use email of the HK police cpu-tcd@police.gov.hk concerning china seller pigpingxian?

Unless the seller is actually based in Hong Kong it probably is not appropriate to contact the Hong Kong police.
