spring4blue is an eBay seller of Counterfeit (Fake) Flash USB drives. Based in the United States spring4blue sold those familar 8GB fakes but in the third generation packaging which is a little more sexy than the previous two that came out in 2007 and early 2008. It does not make a lot of difference though, a fake is a fake and these do not have a real capacity of more than 1 GB! There is nothing “defective here. You can not make a little flash drive chip store more than it’s true capacity. The only thing that can be done is reprogramme the controller chip to lie about the real size – with data loss waiting in the wings.
The seller said:
Our 8gb Flash Drives are brand new. They have superior Samsung memory. Samsung accounts for 50% of the memory market. Do not confuse these drives with inferior memory products. These drives are Hi-Speed USB 2.0 drives.
Now if seller spring4blue meant bits instead of bytes, that would account for 1 of the drives turning out to be 1GB true capacity, but to explain the other only being 512MB?

mediumsizebill is an eBay seller of Counterfeit (Fake) Flash USB drives. Based in the United Statues mediumsizebill sold those ancient and most classic of fakes at an advertised capacity of 8GB. SOSFakeFlash knows them only too well, they are still floating about in bargain bins. eBay sellers out for quick profit snap them up only to have the fake usb flash chips snap right back when buyers discover the awful truth.

If you see this second generation packaging, do not bid, do not buy, DO NOT SELL IT! Unless it is advertised at 256MB to 1GB! Beware of those little stickers – they are the calling sign of false capacity! Never rely on any size reported by an operating system and make sure you test with the recommended software before storing any data on them! The good news is that these drives are easy to take apart to decode the controller chip and flash drive chip to find repair software. But do you really want to? Your real capacity is going to be small!

chekel2007 is an eBay seller of Counterfeit (Fake) Flash USB drives. Based in the United States chekel2007 sold those familar 8GB fakes. He guaranteed that the drives would be
8GB USB flash drive. NEW !!! GUARANTEED 8GB !!!!!!!!!!!

unfortunately you can not make a 512MB flash chip grow into an 8GB. If you ever see any packaging like this, please do not bid or buy! They are the second generation of fake usb drives that started appearing in the end of 2007 early 2008. The smaller the actual capacity the older they tend to be.

worldshiping12699 is an eBay seller of Counterfeit (Fake) Flash USB drives. Based in the United States worldshiping12699 sold counterfeit Kingston Kingston DT150 flash drives along with generic 16GB Flash drives. One ordered at 32GB arrived as 64GB packaging.
There is absolutely no excuse for selling counterfeit usb flash drives on ebay. A seller who cries he is a victim, demonstrates his “victim” status by rushing to contact his buyers to warn, refund and to apologize. Honest eBay sellers do this, despite financial loss. worldshiping12699 no such seller. Worse still, he violates eBay’s feedback policy with exhortion. Read the rest of this entry »

Fake MP Players are the lastest plague to hit eBay. Harder for Buyers to spot before they leave postive feedback. Why? A 16GB false capacity MP player that turns out to be only 2GB can hold as many as 500 songs. It takes time to load. Most buyers of MP Players just use technology and are not techie. They fall for the “opphs a defective item” song sung by the fake flash seller. The lure of “free shipping” is one of the strongest pulls to end up in the fake flash pit. It appears that eBay fake flash sellers in Hong Kong and China know this so well – they have studied their buyer audience carefully. Here is advice – a Guide from SOSFakeFlash.

The FrankenFlash Project’s, SOSFakeFlash group continues their investigation into a seller operating on eBay under the id of guruelectronics. This seller has been on the watch list for over five months as a suspect seller of false capacity usb flash drives. Rules require evidence before an alert to consumers can be issued on the internet. On February 8th, 2009, an alert was released: guruelectronics Ebay Fake Flash Seller Alert – USA as supporting data was now on file.
On February 12th, 2008 SOSFakeFlash received a threatening email from the seller operating under this id stating that he never sold false capacity usb flash drives and intended to inform one of the host sites about “slanderous” allegations. Immediately the FrankenFlash Project was contacted for assistence to dig deeper into this sellers behavior. More supporting data was collected. The most glaring suspect listing on eBay was suddenly removed from public viewing. As a result TechReporters was contacted to issue a call to eBay buyers to test any usb flash drive bought from this seller and photographs of the suspect drive presented. See Did You Buy a 16GB USB Flash Drive From guruelectronics On Ebay Recently?
It was thought seller had removed the listing. SOSFakeFlash has learned it was eBay who removed the listing. Here is what eBay replied to a victim (know under the nom de plume of BlueFacts) on eBay Seller guruelectronics’s disappearing listing:
