NobelDefender is a victim of eBay fake flash memory seller, wholesalestore09. On October 7, 2009 SOSFakeFlash published: wholesalestore09 Ebay Fake Flash Seller High Alert Devious – China
On the same day, NobelDefender wrote to SOSFakeFlash to share his story:
Hi there
Thanks for putting up such a fantastic site, wish I knew of it before I bought and became a victim of a fake flash drive!! The details you require for putting up this sellers information is here:

Item is still listed. The description says 32 GB Brand New 32Gb USB 2.0 flash drive A588
Seller’s address (as on the shipping package):

I buy quite some stuff on Ebay and up until now I have had only pleasant experiences. Even with sellers who do end up selling fake batteries I end up getting a refund or a replacement.
This time I went about buying a flash drive, the price seemed too attaractive so I bought it. The seller at that time had no negative feedback so it all seemed ok. The item arrived quite late and I thought I would do a battery of tests before I leave any feedback. The drive looked sleek and nice.
I checked on my Mac at first tried copying a file that was 225mb, nothing big for a drive that claims to be 32 GB! Well at about 104 mb my mac would stop copying the file and be ‘stuck’! This got me suspicious and I formatted it on my laptop running Windows PC it showed 32 gb alright it even “copied” big files, but when I tried to access these files nothing happened! They wouldn’t open.
Obviously I got suspicious and “googled’ and discovered your site and H2Testw. Ran the test for a complete 3 hours and then when the verifying process started it just gave me 105.9 mb ok!!! No wonder the mac stopped copying at 104 MB!!! Imagine my shock, 32 GB and 105 MB! What a joke not even 1/4th of its advertised capacity!
I quickly logged on to check the feedback of the seller, and what do I find? He has made it “Private” there were 7 negatives and in another day 9! Obviously the other buyers have figured out that they have also received fake drives! And now by making it Private I can’t read their feedback. After going through your site I have registered a complaint with Paypal for a full claim.
Of course the seller is in denial and says his drives are 32 gb if I don’t like it I can return it! But he is not willing to pay for the return mail.
My stand is that since this is not a damaged or spoilt drive in fact is a fake drive, why should I pay for the return?? They have deliberately sent me a fake drive when they knew it full well its fake. I am still waiting for the decission from Paypal.
But in the meanwhile I thought it would be wise to submit this information to your site, so that more people don’t get fooled. If there are so many cases on Ebay, then Ebay should do something about this! Make a policy decission to either make the seller pay more as guarantee for the drives or some other way to protect the buyer.
Hope this helps someone.
Thanks
NobelDefender
SOSFakeFlash, part of the FrankenFlash Project has been battling against sellers of false capacity flash memory products for over 22 months. The problem still continues on eBay, the evidence continues to grow against fake flash sellers operating on eBay and also on eBay itself for refusing to address the problems. The issue is over five years old. It is said that over 90% of all flash memory products sold on eBay are false capacity. NobelDefender call for eBay to DO SOMETHING! is not new, all victims on eBay say exactly the same thing. So far, eBay does little except suspend sellers when enough people complain. This unfortunately leads to listing information disappearing – SOSFakeFlash does it’s best to preserve information for victims.
SOSFakeFlash can not publish an alert on a seller without evidence. As a victim reported in on wholesalestore09 we were able to investigate and issue an alert on the internet.
Members like NobelDefender realizing something is wrong, search the internet for information, and find us. If you suspect you have purchased a false capacity flash memory item on eBay, please test it and if you discover you have a fake, report in, using the Report A Fake Tab.
Your information is important to warn others about bad sellers on eBay. NobelDefender’s observations on wholesalestore09 demonstrates why. wholesalestore09 has changed his feedback to private so people can not see what buyers have to say. Even worse, no one can see who bought from wholesalestore09 to warn them to test. NobelDefender’s testing makes that very clear. Buyers of wholesalestore09 are at risk of loosing their data – there are over 750 victims out there.
The issue of fake 32GB and 64GB usb flash drives on eBay continues to be serious. wholesalestore09 was one of these sellers. See: Warning! eBay 32GB 64GB Fake Flash Memory Outbreak – USB Pen Drives. Please patrol eBay for suspect listings and warn buyers to test. You could save someone from serious data loss and help remove fraudulent sellers of these fake capacity usb flash drives that are so dangerous to a persons data.

If you bought any item advertised on eBay in the following capacities: 4GB 8GB 16GB 32GB 64GB 128GB or higher use this new search tool to see if information already exists on your eBay seller.

Welcome to SOSFakeFlash’s new “Public” notice board for strategy to continue purging eBay of fake flash sellers. You will always find it under Category: Battle Plan – Strategy. Also see: Using The SOSFakeFlash Battle Plan Bulletin Boards – How They Work – Rules
The most serious issues facing us:
- An escalation in 32GB and 64GB false capacity flash memory pen usb drives
- Getting the message out to international websites and forums, especially in languages other than English.
- Ensuring that SOSFakeFlash is left in feedback so that victims can find help when they search on the internet.
- Private auction listings
- Email assistance requests for help with PayPal refunds
- Email assistance requests for help repairing fake mp players, memory cards, usb flash pensticks.
- Getting victims to contact other buyers for a fake flash seller!
- eBay sellers changing their id names or using a new id the moment they get suspended.
- eBay victims who change their feedback to get a refund and create MORE victims because they only thought of themselves and not others!
We are not kidding about the escalation for 32GB and 64GB fake capacity! Sellers are using multiple item listings and frequently private auctions as well. We need people to contact any buyers for these capacities and if they fail testing to report in immediately using the Report A Fake Tab. Early detection is key! Also patrol and leave suspect id’s as comments on this post. You can ask others to assist in contacting buyers for a seller on this article by leaving a comment. It helps people to focus their energy wisely.
eBay members are needed to contact others. We are seeing some evidence of improvement – reports from people who say “I received a message to test”. It helps detect new sellers, to investigate and enter the details into the database. Our fake flash eBay sellers lists are based on reports and also the alerts we issue. SOSFakeFlash has a zero tolerance policy, it takes only one confirmation for a seller to be entered. eBay makes it very difficult for people to warn others, one person has a quota of 5 messages a day, because of this, many people are needed! Read:
If you receive confirmations from a buyer, get them to join you in contacting others for the same seller! Tip. Stick to the same seller for at least one week, or make sure you put the sellers eBay id in your message so you don’t get confused. Sending messages can take less then 15 minutes a day, once you get the hang of it. It can also be fun to reach out to other members and very satisfying when you prevented someone from losing information.
SOSFakeFlash has pulled the rug from under many eBay powersellers, when victims join together! eBay and PayPal are forced to take notice when members unite.

Buying a false capacity MP3 MP4 Player on eBay happens all the time. SOSFakeFlash is also receiving reports that these items often have a dangerous wall charger too – they “blow up” and can lead to electrical fires!
On June 25, 2009 SOSFakeFlash Published: kinhome88 Ebay Fake Flash Seller Alert – China
You should read the email from the kinhome88 in that alert! It may explain why he has been able to continue frauding through the summer of 2009 and continues unchallenged in the Fall of 2009. kinhome88 now also offers those fake usb memory flash pen drives SOSFakeFlash has seen a few too many times.
eBay buyer victim “Yogi” bought this 32GB Touch Screen MP3 MP4 Player from kinhome88:

Yogi provided the following listing description from kinhome88:
PACKAGE INCLUDED
———————————
32GB Touch Screen MP3 MP4 Player
USB Data & Power Supply Cable
High Quality Earphone
USB Wall Charger (Free Gift!!!)
Yogi said:
Received a Wall Charger which BLEW up !See picture

Yogi Observed:
High Quality Earphone….it’s subjective….
The 32GB player with 2,8 inch screen….After putting more than 2 GB on the memory the problems start to arise. corupt files etc.
Because of the site.. I decided to open the MP4 player. It has a Samsung memory chip :
SAMSUNG Flash
K4S281632C-TC1L
The Hardware chip is:
ANYKA AK3631LQ14402
FS01F9
SOSFakeFlash had a lot of difficultly trying to find this the memory chip at Samsung: K4S281632C-TC1L when found, the serial was for SDRAM and was an EOL product (end of life). Very confusing. The investigators have no idea what to make of this. An SDRAM flash memory chip being used in an MP Player? Or was it a counterfeit nand memory chip, using a legal serial number from Samsung? Or was this chip “converted” to be used in low quality MP Players because it was an EOL memory chip? At the moment no one really knows.
Yogi on testing the capacity:
Output of H2Test 1.4.. after completing the writing of the 32 GB and the verify starts it complained about errors and it/… crashed.
Because the writing of 32 Gb takes so very long I didn’t do the test again.
Yogi has filed a claim with paypal as do many eBay victims.
Yogi’s false capacity MP Player, reveals two additional facts buyers need to be aware of:
1) Wrong storage memory chips being used, possibility of counterfeit knock offs or recycled chips that should not be used in MP Players.
2) Wall chargers that are an electrical hazard. Yogi’s MP Player was damaged as a result. Wall chargers that are sub standard and not properly certified could damage your electrical outlet, MP Player and possibly start a fire in your home.
In hunting for unrealistic bargains on eBay you could end up with much more than a false capacity memory item.
Meanwhile kinhome88 continues to fraud and SOSFakeFlash sees little evidence of buyers attempting to contact and warn others who bought from this seller. As a result, kinhome88 will to earn and to sell fake memory items to unsuspecting eBay members.
If you feel this is wrong, lend a helping hand, warn buyers of kinhome88.

Could you check the replacement and verify that it is 16Gb BEFORE sending.

SharpEdge observed:
As you can see , no option but refund even though I asked for REPLACEMENT rather than refund.
My email to seller:
I see that the refund transaction is already progress.
I did not really want a refund but a replacement.
Anyway ….thanks .
I have been to the Post Office and the cheapest shipping/postage option available is at £6.19 (this is more than half of the cost of the device !!!).
Please let me know if you are willing to reimburse/credit and then I will send/ship the faulty/fake device.
Also, how will this be paid to me when you receive it ?
Please advise and I will send you authentication of post/shipping and tracking of the parcel.
Or better still, please send another replacement (checked and verified that it is definitely 16Gb and I will pay immediately – see my profile).
– SharpEdge
Sellers response:
Dear SharpEdge,
Dear friend,
Thanks for your reply and your checking with the post office.
The postage cost in your palce is still too high to us.
If we get it back, lessing the post cost and our human resource cost, we could not get much back.
And we have got one other device which got the same problem as yours back already.
So, in this case, please keep it.
Thanks
– mememao9898
SharpEdge Action:
OUTCOME : REFUNDED and item smashed and disposed due to faulty and fake.
SharpEdge suspicions:
Also, I think the seller is trading under another ID : lingwawa98982009 as the picture and website profile display are similar – see item descriptions : 280392433245 & 280392433028.

SOSFakeFlash has been asking eBay members who have been victims of fake flash sellers to become more active and aggressive to fight the issue on the home territory – eBay.
Fraudulent sellers get away with selling false capacity usb flash drives, MP Players and memory cards because few test the capacity properly. A quick inspection to see what the operating system reports. Fakes are digitally altered to “fool” operating systems! So buyers leave positive feedback, only to discover the awful truth later. Meanwhile, more members fall into the net, trusting the feedback of previous buyers.
One way to help is as a Fake Flash Angel. Contact people who bought from a fake flash seller and send them a warning message, to test!
An eBay member to be known as “Joe” received such a message from another eBay member.

As an eBay member it is your RIGHT to share your “buying experience” with others and ask them about theirs. If you bought a fake mp player, usb flash drive or memory card you should warn others for the seller. People do not test the capacity properly, they discover the truth much later after leaving positive feedback. Many lose important information.
These sellers on eBay hurt a lot of people and they make a great deal of money. The only way to stop them and shorten their eBay lives is to warn others. eBay only allows a member to send up to 5 messages a day. This quota means one victim can not be effective against a seller, it needs more victims to compensate for the 5 a day message limit.
In 2008, one eBay member asked other buyers about the usb flash drives they purchased. The usb flash drives were fakes. These eBayers also started to contact others.
Soon a full scale war to rid eBay of these items began. There have been many battles and there will be more. The only thing preventing a return to the old days on eBay is YOU!
So how do you warn others? Here is a guide that shows you how. The things to do. The thing’s you should not do. It’s not hard being a fake flash angel, it can take less then 15 minutes a day of your time. Will it make a difference? Yes. Learn why.
