Report A Fake
The Fake flash memory wars are raging. Especially on eBay! It is up to you to make a difference! The frauded buyer can have the last word!
Please report your fake flash memory seller to us. SOSFakeFlash has been fighting the issue since 2008. Fraudulent sellers are stopped when buyers report. SOSFakeFlash will investigate and publish a report on the seller. This helps other victims who have been frauded, it helps them to stand up to the seller and to get their refunds. When buyers do not report sellers, the sellers continue to sell and fraud even more people.
Seebelow for the information we need. We do not have all sellers of counterfeit and false capacity usb flash drives, mpx players and memory cards on file. Your contribution helps everyone. Your information is registered in our database. We publish and warn others.
Addresses of sellers from your mailing envelopes are very helpful. It helps us to spot conterfeit fraud rings operating on eBay. Use the search box and type in your sellers id, if there is an article make sure to leave a comment and also your progress in dealing with him. When we publish your report, please use the ultimate weapon! Social media. If you have a facebook account use it to reference an article to warn your friends. It is the most important way you can contribute and save others from your horrible experience.
As of June 2009, SOSFakeFlash announced a zero tolerance policy.
One confirmation can lead to an alert against an eBay seller. There was no choice considering the number of sellers involved with fake flash memory selling. Investigators for SOSFakeFlash and the FrankenFlash project are highly trained to spot sellers. There is more than sufficient information on the internet for would be eBay sellers to exercise due diligence. eBay makes it a policy to insert into each eBay listing that a seller is solely responsible for what they list.
SOSFakeFlash will make no exceptions, regardless of eBay country of registration. Any alert published at SOSFakeFlash will not be removed, whether or not an eBay seller chooses to refund some buyers. Posturing and threats by eBay sellers are useless, in fact it usually leads to the eBay seller being investigated by eBay and being suspended. We deal in facts, period. You help in providing the facts.
Any attempt to claim “defective” will not be be received kindly, genuine flash memory storage chips are manufactured to the highest standards to ensure they can retain capacity, it is one of the reasons true flash memory is expensive. SOSFakeFlash shows no favoritism. An eBay seller in the Western world will receive the same treatment as one registered in an Asian country. If a brand name item is in question, an eBay seller must furnish proof from the brand name, attesting to the fact the items they sold were not counterfeit or false capacity. We expect the brand name to exonerate the seller by testifying the items were indeed “defective”. We do not expect to receive many emails from the brand name companies as most eBay seller caught did not buy directly from the brand name, nor an authorized reseller, most bought their inventory from Asian wholesaler sites and therefore are at risk of being frauded. You the eBay buyer, are not responsible for their poor lack of judgment. Your duty is to report the seller, to reduce the fraud for your fellow eBay members. It is the only way to reduce the fraud and scam eBay continues to permit. Should you feel sorry for the seller, you do a disservice to other eBay victims, you will contribute the the problem.
To anyone who feels a zero tolerance policy is harsh, we invite you to begin your research and to assess how much money is involved, how much profit and just how many people have lost data and files during the past 9 years on eBay.
We are nearing the end of 2011 and while sellers are being suspended, eBay continues to evade responsibility, despite the fact the issue is over 9 years old. Progress is being made, but only when buyers report. This is where you can matter. You would be very surprised how a single eBay member was able to stop a seller or even reduce the number of victims. It is all about making a small indivual effort. That little effort can have very sharp teeth.
- It is important you test your item to find it’s true capacity. Read: H2testw 1.4 – Gold Standard In Detecting USB Counterfeit Drives
- Do not assume if you have made a paypal claim and it has been closed that you can not reopen it. Many victims have been forced to do this. If you funded with a credit card, take a short cut. After reporting to SOSFakeFlash, contact your credit card company and ask them to do a reversal for fraud. Credit cards are more concerned about your welfare then eBay ever will be. You are more likely to get your refund. It is not something eBay will like and you can be assured that eBay will reclaim their loss by removing the sale from the seller via PayPal. After 3 years of operation and experience we can tell you, the secret to getting your money back is to disregard any eBay claim windows or time limits. People who are persistent succeed.
- Do not leave positive feedback in exhange for a refund. You only make the problem worse. Under no circumstances should you fall for blackmail – revise your feedback to optain a refund. Sellers will try to do this to you. It is up to you to decide if you are a mouse or if you are someone who will not tolerate fraud. The revision of feedack is probably why you bought from the seller in the first place! Read: eBay Victims do not leave positive Feedback or change FB to positive to get refunds! Any seller who tries to make you do this is in violation of eBay rules. You can report them! Send all emails to eBay as your proof – demand your refund and do not accept excuses or email robots.
Any company who had been involved directly or indirectly with a transaction involving fake flash memory items is liable andresponsible. There are no “buts” or “maybe”s. Do not belive any seller ploy of “defective or faulty”, this is the oldest scam in selling fake flash memory! If you fall for it, you allow more victims for your seller.
It is important you become a registered victim of the eBay flash memory fraud:
- Reminder eBay see: EBay Ordered to Pay $61 Million in Sale of Counterfeit Goods
- Reminder PayPal: Steele Settlement Website
If you have confirmed that you have a fake (purchased from eBay) and you wanted it entered into the database as evidence so we can post an alert or update counts against a seller we will need the following information from you:
- eBay item number
- eBay Seller id
- Your eBay Buyer id (d0n’t forget this please)
- Your output from H2testw 1.4 or F3 by Michel Machado For Linux
- eBay item description title
- Seller address complete if you have it (mailing envelopes, eBay, PayPal). Important to build profile and track multiple id’s
- Seller email address
- A short word of you experience and or thoughts if you like (optional)
Reminder, your eBay Buyer id is NOT published on the internet when you report in to us. eBay fake flash memory seller ids are published on the internet to warn other buyers. Keeping your identity confidential is important. It allows us to fight fraudulent sellers aggressively.
If your seller used private auction listings to hide the listing, or a multiple item buy now listing please send a screen capture of the listing to help us cut down on the investigation time.
To capture your buy now listing is very important if the seller is not on file with us (eBay Fake Memory Seller Lists) , if the seller is suspended you will lose your evidence and so could we.
Send this information directly to sosfakeflashdrive@gmail.com
We will not enter information into the database from a public site without 1-4.
After reporting in to us, please visit the updated Fight Back Page! See how you can make a difference. A lot of people find it very rewarding – even “therapeutic”. Yes, sometimes one needs a little therapy from the fake flash memory experience. A lot of people feel helpless against eBay and powersellers, nothing is further from the truth. This site is the result of people who helped out, they knew you would be coming here someday….
If you are reporting several sellers (it happens) please keep the 1-8 pattern. Easy to understand, the more you save us time the faster we can investigate and enter.
If you do not provide us with the minimun 1-4 we will not investigate nor respond to you. If you are a genuine buyer it is easy for you to provide the information.
There is no time limit in reporting a seller, you can find a lot of information inside of your paypal account for proof. We have had cases as old as 18 months from purchase being reported. It is why recording in a database is so important.
SOSFakeFlash is very strict about collecting information, data can be support, has witnesses to the fake flash memory deed. The alerts and posts we publish – are based on evidence. Not one post has ever been removed since 2008, despite threats or posturing, can you guess why?
The data we collect is used to build the list of fake flash memory sellers on eBay. It is also used to issue summary reports on the problem. Data from victims helped us to produce this report: Global Report – eBay Fake Memory 2008 – 2009 , a two year effort. If anyone wants to dispute with us, we can send them an angry mob of fake flash victims. So if you would like to have your item(s) recorded for the record please send us the information above to: sosfakeflashdrive@gmail.com
It is important to report even if the seller is already on the list or an alert is issued.
It increases the counts and evidence against the seller and for the degree of fraud on eBay too. . We publish the sellers and the current counts in our eBay fake flash sellers list. We also produce statistics and reports from the information you send.
In your feedback please put the calling card of “SOSFakeFlash” + “H2testw“. It helps people to find us and get help. It unnerves fraudulent sellers as it means their days are now numbered. If you left positive feedback, do a follow up to your original feedback – to let everyone know what you discovered. You would be suprised just how much this can help. If you have a little time, contact at least 5 other buyers from your fake flash seller to warn them to test. It’s a chain reaction, it helps others, reduces victims and soon brings these fraudulent sellers to the attention of both PayPal and eBay.

Thanks Red. Appreciate your help!
We are working on redesign for future alerts and dealing with the after holiday season fake flash blues for frauded buyers reporting in.
eBay is asleep at the wheel, but there is nothing new about that.
The most disturbing thing currently happening on eBay?
Buy now multiple item listings. eBay does suspend and in doing so removes the evidence, you can no longer access the item on your won list. Buyers, draw your own conclusions about this.
How many will ever get a refund?
As eBay continues to erase the truth about fake flash selling and continues to protect seller ids who engage in selling fake memory, we stress that frauded buyers DEMAND full refunds including all shipping and handling charges. Also that because eBay erases evidence, no buyer should stop in a claim because the 45 day window has passed. It does not matter if the item was purchased last year, or even two years ago.
Recently a reader left this comment:
It was about skipping the regular eBay claim process, simply to report the item as not received. This action would be classified as “FakeFlashCommando”. It is unethical?
Many readers have suggested this short route over the years.
Is it effective? YES it is.
Should people do it? That depends….
Every victim’s circumstances is different. Money does not grow on trees, otherwise our planet would be covered in forests!
Each person must decide what is best for themselves. We will not suggest what they should do.
But…
It is important that somebody report in on a fraudulent seller and if a person reports the item as “not received”, they can’t report to us. After all, they did not receive the item…. Ahem. By not reporting, the seller will not be investigated, documented or added to our lists. Other buyers need to be warned, the evidence on ebay increased.
If a person ordered several items and they are all fakes, then they have a serious problem to deal with. It’s obvious that reporting items not received is the quick path.
People need to be reminded that if they purchased with a credit card, the quickest action is to contact the credit card company to do a reversal of the transaction for fraud. The money is removed from paypal and you can believe paypal will remove the money from the seller in a flash (pardon the pun).

Good summary Kitty! The situation is SICK! I agree people should report in to sosfakeflash.
I also agree with justcurious. eBay is really to screw so screw back. You work very hard at this site. Kudos to you all.
To deal with the scamming there is only one answer in IMHO, scam back. How many sellers do you need on your ebay lists?
The answer is to kick ass. period.

Attention all Aussies that have access to ALDI stores
late October 2010 I purchased a fake/counterfeit Fission Brand 8GB flash drive from the Arndell Park ALDI store
When I realised what I had purchased I new I could get my money back but I took up the fight for the little guy
as I could not believe a big chain like ALDI would be selling fake flash, I tried to talk to ALDI directly and they referred me to Tempo Australia the wholesalers, below find the last piece of correspondence below which I feel is a cop out, ALDI is still selling these fake flash and I emplore other Aussies to buy test and report as they thought I was a crank and that my flash was the exception and not the rule
My final correspondence from Tempo, though I can post earlier correspondence on request
Dear Mr Hall,
I’d like to thank you for contacting us with your concerns relating to the 8GB USB Memory Stick.
We appreciate all feedback we receive that can help us continue to provide consumers with affordable and quality products.
As with all of our products, the 8GB USB Memory Stick production is subject to our Quality and Safety testing processes.
In regards to your comments bellow regarding the 8GB USB Memory Stick;
“The packaging looks sealed but is not”
-The item is produced on a production line and as with any product, the packaging on a few may not seal correctly, however the product will still work.
“The design resembles earlier Laser branded flash drives”
-All products sold through Aldi stores are subject to comply with design specifications set by Adli.
“The design does not have the capacity displayed on the unit itself”
-All products sold through Aldi stores are subject to comply with design specifications set by Adli.
Concerning your other comments;
– At present we have had no reports regarding the Fission 8GB USB Memory Stick capacity or performance.
– We inspected the USB Memory Stick you sent in and can confirm that it is faulty.
– Upon testing, it was found to have trouble reading from and the size represented to the operating system was 8MB (not 64MB as reported in your correspondence)
As your item was found to be faulty a refund has been arranged.
Thank you again for your feedback.
Kind Regards,
Ryan D.

Dear Ally
I am an IT contract worker specialising in PC and Network support
I am writing to alert you that there is a very strong possibility that the fission 8 GB flash drives you are currently selling are fake/counterfeit.
Best case scenario: Only the manufacturer is complicit.
Worst case scenario: The supplier/wholesaler may also be complicit.
I have been a victim of fake/counterfeit flash drives through eBay and small computer retailers.
The definition of a fake/counterfeit flash drive:
At best: these are factory second components with reduced life expectancy.
At worst: they are smaller capacity devices that misinform the operating system by saying they have a greater capacity than is actually the case.
This problem is rife with some overseas manufacturers who use this means to dispose of their older, smaller capacity stock;
by rewriting the information on the front of the device to pass it off as a larger , more desirable device and sell it at a greater profit.
The problem is insidious because most purchasers will be unaware of the problem until it is too late; either because the device can’t be returned, or – which is far worse – the user has lost data.
A disturbing example if a customer purchases a large capacity flash drive before going away on holiday; and whilst away is dumping the photos/videos from their still/video camera to the flash drive to make room for more photos/videos on their camera.
Due to most popular operating systems (i.e. Windows) only writing files and not verifying as it goes (by default);
after the user has used up the true capacity of the drive; any further files that are written will corrupt any and all of the
previous files -thus losing precious memories/data.
My suggestion to you is to immediately withhold the units from sale until you can prove my claims then, after confirming my claims, file a recall notice
This illicit practice can be done to anything with flash memory; i.e. mp3/mp4 players and sd/micro sd cards.
After you verify my claims you may want to also check any other devices with flash memory from the same manufacturer/supplier/wholesaler as this can damage ANY retailer’s reputation.
Please find below links to a site that backs up my allegation, and shows how this practice is rife; and is worth many millions of dollars in sales to the manufacturers.

On purchasing the 8gb fission flash drive on Friday 29th October at the Arndell Park Aldi Store, I noticed the following points of concern:
* The packaging looks sealed but is not;
* The design resembles earlier Laser branded flash drives (not the current models);
* The design does not have the capacity displayed on the unit itself;
* When writing data to the device the speed is extremely slow (and this is whilst connected to a USB2 port);
* The first warning I had that the flash drive was truly fake/counterfeit was data corruption.
I wrote 1.2GB of multimedia (avi) files and found all but one were unplayable and that one was incomplete/damaged.
* Due to my prior experience I used H2testw 1.4 – Gold Standard In Detecting USB Counterfeit Drives.
* After completing 6 hours of testing I discovered the true capacity (taking overheads like the FAT table into
account) was 64 MB
So my findings from my first sample is that Aldi is unknowingly selling an $17.99 64 MB (not 8 GB) flash drive. This experience has shaken my trust it Aldi’s IT products; but not my trust in the integrity of the Aldi the company. I know you will refund my money without question (as I still have the receipt and packaging).
But my concerns are for the unsuspecting users out there who don’t know that these sorts of problems exist. And I am sure that you will want to do your best to rectify this matter.
The following is the output from H2testw v1.4 after 6hours of testing:
The media is likely to be defective.
46 MByte OK (94208 sectors)
7.8 GByte DATA LOST (16379904 sectors)
Details:0 KByte overwritten (0 sectors)
0 KByte slightly changed (copy /B /V movie.avi e:\
movie.avi
ERROR Verify – e:\movie.avi
1 file(s) copied.”
I hope you find this information useful

IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO PEOPLE REPORTING FAKES
1) No ebayer member id = no entry into the datebase
2) No investigation by SOSFakeFlash
3) No alert at SOSFakeFlash
4) No entry of seller on to the fake flash eBay seller lists, see https://sosfakeflash.wordpress.com/category/fake-flash-memory/ebaysellers/negative-fb-tool/
What does it mean to the people who investigate? You waste their time. Currently people who do not add their id, end up in file 13. File 13 = trash bin in email.
The people here do not have the time to do follow up. To many fake flash sellers on eBay. So if you are serious about having your seller documented make sure you give them all the facts.
SOSFakeFlash is about facts, truth. They have never removed an alert. If you send the proof, there is absolutely nothing eBay or the seller can do.
If you don’t send in your id they won’t publish a seller.
FYI, only people who send in their complete information have the possibility to participate in a class action suit.

Please continue to report in. Do not forget to send the required information. We are processing your information as fast as we can.
Currently eBay is attempting to suspend sellers and as a result information is disappearing rapidly. In order to catch sellers, you must not delay with your reports.
Before you rejoice in a seller being suspended, you need to consider the fact that eBay is permitted to remove all listing information and internet traces. This hides the true and it also frustrates eBay members who have been frauded.
SOSFakeFlash works very hard to capture and document information before it is too late.
Should you discover you are a victim, ensure you begin to contact fellow buyers and warn them to test the actual capacity of the items they purchased. Failure to do so only increases the number of people frauded and who risk losing information. By contacting others pressure is increased and eBay is forced to refund.
Please do not THANK EBAY in your feedback for a refund. eBay is only responding to the pressure from members who are fighting back, they are not refunding you because they are being nice!
A lot of victims on file with SOSFakeFlash find this offense. Many did not receive refunds, they fought very hard and in most cases sacificed their refunds to record the truth. They KNEW there would be more victims in the future. They thought about YOU! You were far more important than getting money back. Please respect their efforts and their sacrifices for you.
Should anyone wish to challenge what I am writing….
Kindly review the history of this site.
Look at https://sosfakeflash.wordpress.com/article-list/articles-complete-list/
go back to the beginning and work your way forward.
Then show your appreciation, fight back.
BTW… do not assume that SOSFakeFlash forgot victims who reported in and who did not receive a refund. We have not forgotten them. They are on file with us. You can read between the lines to know what that really means….
Note that we do check to see if a person reporting did buy the item they claim.
We catch about 3% of all fake flash memory sellers on eBay. Discouraged about that? Don’t be. eBay has all the information. They have the databases. One day…they will have to answer and reveal everything in court.
It’s been 8 years now going on 9 years for eBay. If you are reading this… how do you feel about being a fake flash memory victim 9 years after the problem started on eBay?
The answer to this question, determines what YOU are willing to do. Don’t forget if you left positive feedback you can do a follow up feedback to reveal the truth.

5. eBay item description title = "Condition New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging is applicable). If the item comes direct from a manufacturer, it may be delivered in non-retail packaging, such as a plain or unprinted box or plastic bag. Capacity: 32GB"
My response to onestopmagicbox aka stephen.mchutchison@ntlworld.com.
"My card is defective and I am requesting a refund.
Windows reports the capacity as 30.4 Gb and after running H2Testw (a utility for testing the capacity of fake cards) the capacity is below 2 Gb. I then tried to fill it with 30.4 Gb of data and of course it couldn't and it corrupted the files that did make it in.
I then contacted Kingston (www.kingston.com/verifyflash) and they emailed me saying that the serial number on the package (25124628-088d833) is not recorded as a genuine Kingston product.
Please contact me within the next two days to organise a refund as that would be the simplest solution and would avoid a dispute resolution case with Ebay and Paypal. I will then mail the card back to you so you can then take up the matter with your supplier."
Of course I received no reply and had to open a dispute resolution case with Ebay and got my refund on Friday.
I have been lucky as this is my first bad experience with Ebay after 7 years but there you are.
What a cretin.

I’ve been caught – seller ID rudolf.guy – but eBay has taken him and all his items down before I even knew what had happened. Finding this site took many permutations on the Google search because I originally suspected a corrupt SD card or an incorrectly reported speed.
I’ll post a proper report when I have all the 8 items gathered.

WEll, it has finally happened, I have bought fake sandisk cards. They were intended to go to eBay to sell. See, I am a power seller on eBay of a different product. I have been for 5 years. In this economy and with a family of 4 kids and a wife that works part time I was looking for additional income. I have bought memory cards on eBay and have been very satisfied with them. Cards were all good, have worked well for me. I needed a few larger gb so I went to buy some. Be an honest business man I went to work on finding a supplier from China. Did all my homework. Went to what I thought were reputable sites liek Global Source and Alibaba. Have bought from them sites befroe and everything worked out. Thank god I did not purchas large quantities. My business sense says start small and frow. Entering into a very large market of fakes, I went anyway. The cards arrived today, I needed a 16gb so I opened it and easily placed 7gb of material on them and game it to my son for his game saves. I then took a second card and knwoing this test was available inserted a 16gb card. Test ranfor a while ane then it went pink. Card could be defective. OK just a bad card. Grabbed another and the same then another and then the same. CRAP I HAVE BEEN DOOPED. Even afte I thought I did everything necessary to protect myself.
The issues people is not with eBAy. Its with the seller that goes on eBAy and sells this stuff. I have a very high rating so it was important to me not to sell anything that could kill that. Some people are shady and trying to make a quick dollar. There are good people selling memory for along time. If they get a bad batch is it there fault? Is it eBays fault? It is only if they continue to allow the seller to continue to sell. Even then you canno stop them. New name, new email address, new paypal email. A new this and a new that and another $500 is made. I know I will not sell these and I will chaulk this up to a learning experience. But the biggest question is how to stop this. Do we need to blame the american government once again for not having a bigger control on what comes into this country or giving us better tools on how to protect ourselves? Maybe? I am going to name the company here that sold these to me so it shows up in a google search. They are http://www.jdxusb.com The sales person email is elaine@jdxusb.com. I believe the companies shenzhen zhengLiXing Co., Ltd and JINDAXING TECHNOLOGY CO.,LIMITED are apart of this somehow. I think they have good intentions based on the Global Source ratings they have but they have insiders that feed requests to the outside pool and then he fakes are distributed. Just my theory. I contacted the Shenzhen ZhengLiXing and they have no record of the sale but yet I have in my hands a receipt from them for my purchase. REALLY. OH CRAP another bad micro sandisc card.
Is there really truely anyway to fix these so I can use them for transferring unimportant data around the house. I have 30 cards and they will hurt way too much to wipe my @$$ with. LOL

Since I am new to these cards and I have lots of them, does anybody want any? Just kidding sort of kidding. ACouple of gigs is better than nothing.
Anyway, I have a question for the pros on this. If the test is showing up as only 1.9 GB OK and the others as Data Lost on a 16 GB card that the test shows as a 32GB card, can the card be used at all. IS it good for anything? My sons is using his for games and he has a 16GB card. I loaded it up with 8GB of stuff and he is not having any issues to this point. So what is the real deal with this test.
Gregsbeenscrewed said
Hey KittyFireFlash,
Have you been able to cut to the source of this yet. You appear to be the ring leader in the fight against fake flash drives. We both know that fighting eBay is not were the real war is, its the supplier to those people that need to be cut off. This is alot like a drug ring. As long as there are manufactures of these cards, the dealers will be there to collect there money. There are some honest sellers that are selling the fake cards without knowing. Once they get a few back, maybe they can suggest who the manufacture or contact point was and you can disect them. My 30 cards all came in original packaging, Had I now known about your site prior to sellingthem, I would be on your list as a seller of fake cards. That would not have been my intention. http://www.jdxusb.com and the sales person Elaine@jdxusb.com was my contact for fake cards. They used Shenzhen ZhengLiXing Co., Ltd as the name on the invoice that I received. Another name that they used on Globalsources.com was JINDAXING TECHNOLOGY CO.,LIMITED. We need to find away for all this negative publicity to rise to the front of google when there names are researched.

Gregsbeenscrewed,
You raise a lot of interesting points. The issue is complex. We once thought it was simple. Big surprise for us over the past few years.
The most important thing is to increase awareness about the problem of fake flash memory products – educate as many consumers and potential resellers as we can.
We don’t like the zero tolerance policy that was introduced, but there was no choice, the problem on eBay was and still is, bad. There is a lot more information on the internet now.
You might find one of our early articles interesting:
Much has happened since we published it.
Gregsbeenscrewed, you may not be aware but the FrankenFlash Project is co-founded. eBay buyers + eBay early fake flash memory sellers. The rules and standards were not chosen by the buyers who became victims, it was the fake flash memory sellers who set them.
Drug dealers? Hmmm,
There are a lot of similarities. Mostly organized crime. In Asia, specifically China, it is highly organized and well thought out. Those involved, patient.
They certainly don’t like the exposure they have been given. They don’t like the fact most of their id’s have a short lifespan. However, it is an annoyance, now part of doing business, so they simply increase the number of id’s on eBay.
eBay from so much pressure from frauded buyers has been happily forced to hunt the id’s, especially the young ones, terminating them almost as fast as the sentinel site issues warnings.
It is a never ending battle to try and limit the damage on eBay. Only eBay can put an end to it, change the rules for the listings, require a bond for anyone who wishes to sell in these categories. They will not. If they did, 95% of all listings for usb flash drives, memory cards and mp players would disappear. With it? Revenue they desperately need.
Going after the sources in China is difficult. Insider information makes it clear, it is not a priority for the Chinese government. They generally look the other way, or give a tap on the wrist. Naughty, Naughty! Occasionally, they do spring into action and make an example or two. As you mentioned drug running… well those involved can be well connected. Do you want to be the police officer that exposes? You don’t know whose toes you might be treding on. The end of your career or worse.
Something needs to be done with all those old flash memory chips, the discards of C and D classification. So recycled they are, upgraded they are. Consumers pay the price, resellers pay the price.
The real teeth to address the issue is pressure from brand names. They have eBay nervious and pulling listings. They also have the ability to pressure and cause police action in China, but in a limited fashion.
Generics are a lost cause. Yet awareness for non branded is a lot better. The real profit currently is coming from brand name items that are counterfeit and also fake capacity. As price was the best measurement, fake flash memory sellers are now “raising” prices.
The oldest members who founded the project did not expect to solve the issue or stop it over night. Instead, as a result of research it was clear it would be a long battle with many phases. The most important action was and still is to educate and empower victims to fight for themselves and also for others.
This site can’t provide individual counseling to victims, we have too much work. Details can’t be revealed here. Fake flash memory sellers read too. Surprised? However, others are invited to help out and answer comments with their insights.
Greg, to know you found our site before selling is encouraging to all of us. It means the effort is worth it our time and personal sacrifices. You may have a fight on your hands to try and get your money back but you were spared from angry buyers and the consequences.
We hope more potential resellers find the sites, learn and avoid being caught in fake flash memory selling. The fewer eBayer sellers added to the lists, the happier all will be.
It means progress.
Some may believe it is the financial fraud that drives us.
Wrong.
Fake memory is not be compared to a toaster that fizzles after a few uses or a dvd player that refuses to play and holds the dvd hostage in the tray not opening anymore.
People who help are all ages, some well off, others not. A lot are independents. Others prefer the shadow existence.
Warning others for a seller to test, is perhaps the best contribution a person can make. Even if it only warning 10 buyers over a period of a few days. It’s not hard to do and the “how” is included on every alert we issue. It also gives people personal satisifaction. They made a difference.

The seller's feedback was 100% a few days ago, but has gone down since then. Looking at seller's feedback, he/she has only recently started selling memory cards and may not intentionally be selling bad ones, seller could have bought the cards to sell in good faith.
I bought the 2 cards (ADATA, Class 10) on the same day from this seller and each had a different item number. They were a bit late being delivered and I was informed at that point that the seller was waiting for them to come from China, although the description said that the items were based at Southampton.
I tested one card yesterday and sent the seller the result yesterday evening. I'm testing the other card at the moment and will post the details here when its finished.
The cards were cheap when I bought them, but are now being sold at £49.99 each.
Seller has already specified that I can send them back if I wish. I am not sure at this point whether to return them for a refund or not.

😕 Please be patient. Do you know how many eBay fake flash sellers are in queue for publishing? 😦
SOSFakeFlash has promised to publish on a seller. We have your information on file. The seller will be published.
In the meantime, please do your part – contact other buyers who bought your item and WARN them to test! They need to be alerted and fast! To shutdown a seller – other buyers need to be warned. It stops a seller, leads to a suspension, cuts down on the number of victims.
The FrankenFlash project is fighting on many different fronts – all at the same time. We expect readers here to do more than read. ACT!
There is a lot of investigative work involved before a seller is published at SOSFakeFlash.
So hang in there Gerald, help out. Contact your fellow buyers.
The real army? YOU victims. Put your fingers to the keyboard, Gerald. We will do the rest.

Scary stuff !! Am new to ebay, came across 256GB Leather Pen Thumb Memory Flash Stick Drive, and immediately thought ‘this can’t be for real’ and did a search and came across this
website.
The seller info free_gift99
Item number: 250798353196
Item location: default, default, Singapore
Posts to: Worldwide
How can we contact other bidders, when most likely the bidders themselves are all part of the scam ?
Am really not sure how i can warn others ? What I can suggest is that for every seller on ebay to allow a link to your website for the buyers to access and do a search to see if there
have been reports of frauds, fakes, etc. Those who don’t allow the link from their ebay page are most likely the scammers.
DragonDakel said
Harmony, Scary is right! It is SCARY!
FakeFlashNews released a very interesting study:
There is a problem contacting bidders for sellers registered in Singapore. These ids don’t last very long. They do not leave feedback for buyers. They do make money and then either close their accounts and run or eBay suspends them. Since FakeFlashNews published, we see eBay suspending Singapore sellers rapidly.
If you want to help, we advise you contact eBay sellers who sell leather usb flash drives NOT registered in: China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore. Also not sellers with a feedback score of less then 100 unless they have been on eBay for more than three years and have a 100% feedback score. Stay away from ids with less than a 20 feedback score as they are usually ids created to fraud, sell fake memory.
In discussion with KittyFireFlash and SOSFakeFlash on having eBay sellers link to SOSFakeFlash to demonstate their honesty, they asked my team remain silent and that I do not comment on this.
There is a reason. So I can’t suggest this, even if you have. Honest sellers are very angry with eBay. Are they responding? NO COMMENT!
Draw your own conclusions.
Help if you can Harmony to warn eBay sellers. Use your judgement in choosing who to contact. May the “Force” be with you.

Here is my story: I purchased a Seiko watch from them. It took them about one month to ship me the watch. When I received it, it didn’t look like any thing in the pictures. After contacting them, I got the run around for another month. They told me that they are willing to send me another watch but they never did. By now two months had gone by, when I went to leave them my feedback, the feedback option was gone.
After contacting eBay I was told that I had two months to report them, but its too late for me. These guys (Watchlotus) know how to work the system. Stay away from them.

Update 2011/04/23:
Work continues on several fronts for the Franken Flash Project Teams:
1) Issuing warnings on suspected sellers, eBay and internet
2) Analyzing trends and directions for fake flash memory sellers, where will they strike next????
3) Recording evidence on fraudulent sellers
4) Processing reports being received from frauded buyers.
5) Monitoring low FB feedback score ids and the damage they are doing, eBay is assisting to hide the fraud, nothing new there…..
It is urgent you report in to SOSFakeFlash with your evidence on sellers, please do not delay. Report to SOSFakeFlashDrive@gmail.com
If you delay, it leads to more victims.
Evidence is important.
Don’t forget to leave negative feedback or follow up feedback to assist others. You would be surprised to learn how effective this is!
We are looking for your personal stories. It puts a human face on the problem of flash memory fraud. It also helps others in their fight for justice and it encourages people.

Please send addressing information for your fake flash seller, we are updating the database.
Objective? Identify ebay counterfeit rings. Sellers are using more then one id.
1. United States – using throw away id’s.
2. Singapore – they breed ids like rabbits.
3. China sellers using ids with low feedback scores.
4. Australia – really sellers in Asia.
5. Europe – registering ids in respected countries, really in China and Singapore.
Sellers using Australia as country of registration are being suspended by ebay.
Check your mailing evelopes for addresses. Send them in.
