Report A Fake
The Fake flash memory wars are raging. Especially on eBay! It is up to you to make a difference! The frauded buyer can have the last word!
Please report your fake flash memory seller to us. SOSFakeFlash has been fighting the issue since 2008. Fraudulent sellers are stopped when buyers report. SOSFakeFlash will investigate and publish a report on the seller. This helps other victims who have been frauded, it helps them to stand up to the seller and to get their refunds. When buyers do not report sellers, the sellers continue to sell and fraud even more people.
Seebelow for the information we need. We do not have all sellers of counterfeit and false capacity usb flash drives, mpx players and memory cards on file. Your contribution helps everyone. Your information is registered in our database. We publish and warn others.
Addresses of sellers from your mailing envelopes are very helpful. It helps us to spot conterfeit fraud rings operating on eBay. Use the search box and type in your sellers id, if there is an article make sure to leave a comment and also your progress in dealing with him. When we publish your report, please use the ultimate weapon! Social media. If you have a facebook account use it to reference an article to warn your friends. It is the most important way you can contribute and save others from your horrible experience.
As of June 2009, SOSFakeFlash announced a zero tolerance policy.
One confirmation can lead to an alert against an eBay seller. There was no choice considering the number of sellers involved with fake flash memory selling. Investigators for SOSFakeFlash and the FrankenFlash project are highly trained to spot sellers. There is more than sufficient information on the internet for would be eBay sellers to exercise due diligence. eBay makes it a policy to insert into each eBay listing that a seller is solely responsible for what they list.
SOSFakeFlash will make no exceptions, regardless of eBay country of registration. Any alert published at SOSFakeFlash will not be removed, whether or not an eBay seller chooses to refund some buyers. Posturing and threats by eBay sellers are useless, in fact it usually leads to the eBay seller being investigated by eBay and being suspended. We deal in facts, period. You help in providing the facts.
Any attempt to claim “defective” will not be be received kindly, genuine flash memory storage chips are manufactured to the highest standards to ensure they can retain capacity, it is one of the reasons true flash memory is expensive. SOSFakeFlash shows no favoritism. An eBay seller in the Western world will receive the same treatment as one registered in an Asian country. If a brand name item is in question, an eBay seller must furnish proof from the brand name, attesting to the fact the items they sold were not counterfeit or false capacity. We expect the brand name to exonerate the seller by testifying the items were indeed “defective”. We do not expect to receive many emails from the brand name companies as most eBay seller caught did not buy directly from the brand name, nor an authorized reseller, most bought their inventory from Asian wholesaler sites and therefore are at risk of being frauded. You the eBay buyer, are not responsible for their poor lack of judgment. Your duty is to report the seller, to reduce the fraud for your fellow eBay members. It is the only way to reduce the fraud and scam eBay continues to permit. Should you feel sorry for the seller, you do a disservice to other eBay victims, you will contribute the the problem.
To anyone who feels a zero tolerance policy is harsh, we invite you to begin your research and to assess how much money is involved, how much profit and just how many people have lost data and files during the past 9 years on eBay.
We are nearing the end of 2011 and while sellers are being suspended, eBay continues to evade responsibility, despite the fact the issue is over 9 years old. Progress is being made, but only when buyers report. This is where you can matter. You would be very surprised how a single eBay member was able to stop a seller or even reduce the number of victims. It is all about making a small indivual effort. That little effort can have very sharp teeth.
- It is important you test your item to find it’s true capacity. Read: H2testw 1.4 – Gold Standard In Detecting USB Counterfeit Drives
- Do not assume if you have made a paypal claim and it has been closed that you can not reopen it. Many victims have been forced to do this. If you funded with a credit card, take a short cut. After reporting to SOSFakeFlash, contact your credit card company and ask them to do a reversal for fraud. Credit cards are more concerned about your welfare then eBay ever will be. You are more likely to get your refund. It is not something eBay will like and you can be assured that eBay will reclaim their loss by removing the sale from the seller via PayPal. After 3 years of operation and experience we can tell you, the secret to getting your money back is to disregard any eBay claim windows or time limits. People who are persistent succeed.
- Do not leave positive feedback in exhange for a refund. You only make the problem worse. Under no circumstances should you fall for blackmail – revise your feedback to optain a refund. Sellers will try to do this to you. It is up to you to decide if you are a mouse or if you are someone who will not tolerate fraud. The revision of feedack is probably why you bought from the seller in the first place! Read: eBay Victims do not leave positive Feedback or change FB to positive to get refunds! Any seller who tries to make you do this is in violation of eBay rules. You can report them! Send all emails to eBay as your proof – demand your refund and do not accept excuses or email robots.
Any company who had been involved directly or indirectly with a transaction involving fake flash memory items is liable andresponsible. There are no “buts” or “maybe”s. Do not belive any seller ploy of “defective or faulty”, this is the oldest scam in selling fake flash memory! If you fall for it, you allow more victims for your seller.
It is important you become a registered victim of the eBay flash memory fraud:
- Reminder eBay see: EBay Ordered to Pay $61 Million in Sale of Counterfeit Goods
- Reminder PayPal: Steele Settlement Website
If you have confirmed that you have a fake (purchased from eBay) and you wanted it entered into the database as evidence so we can post an alert or update counts against a seller we will need the following information from you:
- eBay item number
- eBay Seller id
- Your eBay Buyer id (d0n’t forget this please)
- Your output from H2testw 1.4 or F3 by Michel Machado For Linux
- eBay item description title
- Seller address complete if you have it (mailing envelopes, eBay, PayPal). Important to build profile and track multiple id’s
- Seller email address
- A short word of you experience and or thoughts if you like (optional)
Reminder, your eBay Buyer id is NOT published on the internet when you report in to us. eBay fake flash memory seller ids are published on the internet to warn other buyers. Keeping your identity confidential is important. It allows us to fight fraudulent sellers aggressively.
If your seller used private auction listings to hide the listing, or a multiple item buy now listing please send a screen capture of the listing to help us cut down on the investigation time.
To capture your buy now listing is very important if the seller is not on file with us (eBay Fake Memory Seller Lists) , if the seller is suspended you will lose your evidence and so could we.
Send this information directly to sosfakeflashdrive@gmail.com
We will not enter information into the database from a public site without 1-4.
After reporting in to us, please visit the updated Fight Back Page! See how you can make a difference. A lot of people find it very rewarding – even “therapeutic”. Yes, sometimes one needs a little therapy from the fake flash memory experience. A lot of people feel helpless against eBay and powersellers, nothing is further from the truth. This site is the result of people who helped out, they knew you would be coming here someday….
If you are reporting several sellers (it happens) please keep the 1-8 pattern. Easy to understand, the more you save us time the faster we can investigate and enter.
If you do not provide us with the minimun 1-4 we will not investigate nor respond to you. If you are a genuine buyer it is easy for you to provide the information.
There is no time limit in reporting a seller, you can find a lot of information inside of your paypal account for proof. We have had cases as old as 18 months from purchase being reported. It is why recording in a database is so important.
SOSFakeFlash is very strict about collecting information, data can be support, has witnesses to the fake flash memory deed. The alerts and posts we publish – are based on evidence. Not one post has ever been removed since 2008, despite threats or posturing, can you guess why?
The data we collect is used to build the list of fake flash memory sellers on eBay. It is also used to issue summary reports on the problem. Data from victims helped us to produce this report: Global Report – eBay Fake Memory 2008 – 2009 , a two year effort. If anyone wants to dispute with us, we can send them an angry mob of fake flash victims. So if you would like to have your item(s) recorded for the record please send us the information above to: sosfakeflashdrive@gmail.com
It is important to report even if the seller is already on the list or an alert is issued.
It increases the counts and evidence against the seller and for the degree of fraud on eBay too. . We publish the sellers and the current counts in our eBay fake flash sellers list. We also produce statistics and reports from the information you send.
In your feedback please put the calling card of “SOSFakeFlash” + “H2testw“. It helps people to find us and get help. It unnerves fraudulent sellers as it means their days are now numbered. If you left positive feedback, do a follow up to your original feedback – to let everyone know what you discovered. You would be suprised just how much this can help. If you have a little time, contact at least 5 other buyers from your fake flash seller to warn them to test. It’s a chain reaction, it helps others, reduces victims and soon brings these fraudulent sellers to the attention of both PayPal and eBay.

Thanx Eddie!
You can expect http://fakememorysentinel.wordpress.com/ to really escalate. Everybody has been working hard.
We’ve got two problems that consume time:
1) officially documenting fake flash memory sellers who get published here on eBay
2) trying to stop new sellers from selling fakes on eBay
A lot of people writing in say that when they were frauded and googled, all they saw was warnings about fakes on eBay. Good. That is what we intend. Nobody should buy there, it is not safe. It remains 95% of listings are for usb flash drives, mp players and memory cards that have been digitally altered to lie about their real size.
We need more people to contact buyers for their fake flash memory seller or other ones where the price screams FAKE.
eBay continues to try and prevent the truth from getting out to the buying public.
It’s clear eBay is getting hyper and even more nervous.
This is good. More buyers are being refunded, fast. Unfortunately they are still trying to deny the problem and unless eBay members scream for their money back, both eBay and fake flash memory scam artist continue to make profit.
Both are hurting. The hurt needs to increase. It is the only way to force eBay to change the rules for listing usb flash drives, mp players, and memory cards.
As far as SOSFakeFlash goes, given the data we have collected, people are invited to fight back, anyway they like.
Read
and choose what suits you.
If you belive fraud is wrong and you suffered from your purchase, make a statement and let both eBay and fake flash memory seller know just how you feel.
Your choice. We do what we can, but we need YOU!

32GB SD SDHC MicroSD Micro SD TF TransFlash Memory Card
“Fake sandisk lable on the “free adapter” was wonky and not recessed like genuine ones and so pealed off as soon as inserted. the 32gb micro sd card was a hacked lower capacity card that crashed when copying more than 8gb onto and now wont format at all. I have worked in i.t for 15 years and tried it in many systems and adapters, it refuses to format and shows as 8mb (note 8mb not even 8GB). poor quality also as the writing on the card is smudging already. “

Paul do you have an address for eshop_168? It looks like an id pressed into service for an existing powerseller counterfeit ring.
We are working to remove the high FB id’s. eshop_168 has all the tell tale signs. The burning question. Which counterfeit ring?

Hope you are joining in to warn other buyers who left positive feedback for eshop_168. It’s the only way to get him suspended. Nothing else will work against a powerseller with a score like that.
One can issue alerts forever… the fact is for sellers with high scores like this action is needed by the frauded buyers.
Anybody with addressing information on eshop_168 please send it in immediately.

Hi Kitty,

Apparently though there is an “issue” with his paypal :- “hi friend: because there is something wrong with my paypal account ,so i can’t refund the money for you directly, but don’t worry about that, the paypal will refund for your ,hope your pardon~””
Hmmm. funny that!

TechChips said
@Marco
No. Sandisk not paying this site. Kingston not paying this site. Sony not paying this site. eBay not paying this site. PayPal not paying this site.
Caps on = shouting.
As a businessman, have you checked out spot prices on http://www.dramexchange.com/#flash ?
Labour costs? Machines charge the same anywhere in the world. Electricity, not wages. Human involvement is at a minimum. Verifying machine output to determine if chips pass or fail tests. If they fail and about 35% will, they are pulled. The cost is in the “creation” of the chip, then testing by machines. The scraped chips, are also part of the final cost.
Hammers and memory cards are not the same.
Bad hammer, buy a new one or use a rock instead. Bad memory card, goodbye data, goodbye photos. Talk to someone who lost their wedding pictures, child’s birthday party or a special vacation trip. Make sure there are no hammers in the room when you do.
You say you tested and they “show” 32GB.
How did you test? With? It is the word “show”….
You did not say words a technical person wants to hear:
I tested and they hold 32GB of data or store 32GB of data. Show is a very sore point at this site and others. Flash memory chips altered (upgraded) – show the advertised size, to operating systems. They can not store 32GB of information. Difficult if the chip is only 2GB or 4GB in actual capacity?
Major chains do get discounts for selling in bulk. Especially when they enter into a contract to clear an older flash memory item about to be discountinued. However, no manufacturer will ever sell flash memory chips to anyone below the cost to produce them. The flash memory chip shortage is not over. It continues, especially for higher capacity chip sizes. Some fabs have closed down (reduce inventory for low capacity chips), others are bound in contracts to brand names to produce millions of chips for the next year or two (higher capacity chips). If they don’t deliver on schedule, the fabs will suffer penalities.
You say you are a business man and you sell and you also say that you manufacture flash memory?
If you sell and or make true capacity memory cards and they can pass H2testw, you have nothing to fear.
Hopefully everyone will begin to test their memory cards before they use to store data or take photos. It is wise. If it passes and is true capacity the customer has peace of mind. If it is a fake, the buyer avoids a data disaster.
Marco if you think prices drive this site and others, you are wrong. Take the time to read the banner under SOSFakeFlash.
Honest flash memory sellers don’t think we are putting them down. They are positive, supportive.
It’s no secret the technical team can turn a 2GB flash memory chip into any size we like. Who sent us the software to do it? To learn how it can be done? Not everyone in China likes the fraud or supports it.
Who tipped off Kitty’s group about counterfeit rings on eBay? The source was not Western.
China needs to take ownership for the problem and put an end to it. Realistic and fair prices are needed. Grade C and D chips should be destroyed at the source. A good use for the hammer made in China.
KittyFireFlash said
Marco,
If you are an honest seller or manufacturer, you would not take the work of this site personally as an attack on you. Instead you would be praising the efforts to stop the sale of upgraded memory as it would increase the potential for sells for you.
Serious flash memory sellers know exactly what is going on and they are very supportive. They would like nothing better than to see anyone who sells fake memory products in prison.
I have to agree with TechChips. If you are a serious businessman you would have done your homework. You would also be very aware of the insidious practice of upgrading flash memory chips (creating fakes).
It is understood that generics command lower prices then brand names. However, you would also be aware that not just anyone could list brand names on wholesaling internet sites. To be an authorized reseller requires buying authentic products.
If you actually have ties to China you would not be a stranger to the problem of the black and grey markets. Also that counterfeiting is second nature, sadly in China.
There is a zero tolerance policy for eBay sellers at SOSFakeFlash. This policy will not change. Further more, if you really understood the problem, you would not have left the comment you did.
The consumer public and also potential resellers need to be warned. They need to understand the issues. If you are honest you will not find yourself published at one of the FrankenFlash project sites. If you are not, you may find yourself reported and recorded permenently in internet history.
Please take the time Marco to understand the issue(s) and the product(s) you sell or manufacture.
Do not mislead the public with a comparison of hammers, socks or shoes to flash memory.
Also do not suggest that we receive payment for the work we do. It is an insult. It reveals more about you then us. Not everyone in our global community grasps for money. There are those who genuinely care about others. Who have the courage to fight for what is right and honourable. All those who contribute receive absolutely no financial gain. Buyers who leave negative feedback on eBay or contact others do so because they care. Others who offer their personal stories as an item on eBay do so because they care, the listing feeds negate any profit.
Consumers come first.
Sellers are expected to research and understand what they are selling. Failure to do so, is no excuse.

You drew the short straw, bjj80.
Sorry to hear this. Okay so PayPal has decided to give you the special torture treatment.
So what can you do?
1) If you paid the transaction with a credit card, please call the credit card company and report it as fraud. safe2star is a very well known fake flash memory seller and has been at it for a long time. The internet has lot’s of information on this seller and documented his fraud. The worst part is using private auctions to hide what he is up to. Not only that, he is part of a well known counterfeit ring operating on eBay. See this post: https://sosfakeflash.wordpress.com/2010/08/17/take-tohome-ebay-fake-flash-memory-seller-high-alert-china-member-of-lee-man-fung-ebay-counterfeit-ring/ to see how many id’s are involved. I don’t have access to the database today, but the safe2star is part of more than one counterfeit ring. Most credit cards are only to happy to help out a frauded eBay buyer because they really care about protecting their customers. They know a lot of people are afraid of buying on the internet, precisely because of the risk of being frauded. Generally a credit card allows one transaction reversal (fraud claim) per year. It is fair. Buyers must learn from their experience and become wiser shoppers.
We are finding that credit cards are refunding their customers. What happens when they do this is that they remove the money from PayPal (nothing PayPal can do about this), then eBay is forced to remove the money from the seller.
2)If you can’t go the credit card route, do you know of a computer store near you? Or a computer repair store? If you take your fake flash item to them, along with your testing evidence and tell them your story, most will be happy to write a short note on their company stationary attesting to the fact it is a fake. You can then forward as your 3rd party proof. Most will not charge you anything either. They lose money to fake flash memory sellers as their genuine items cost realistic prices. So when they get a frauded eBay member who has learned the hard lesson, they are usually willing to help. No only that, having learned your lesson, they will hope you will purchase genuine items from them in the future as a reformed fake flash memory victim.
The bad thing about this and the stupidity for both eBay and PayPal is that it just increases awareness in local communities about the issue of fake flash memory being available on eBay. Currently they escalating in removing all traces for fake flash memory sellers. Our teams are doing their level best to keep up with them and uncover the truth, not easy.
By selecting you bjj80 for PayPal torture, they are just making the problem even more visible on the internet.
If you need a little encouragement, read:
When an eBay member stands up and refuses fraud, it is possible to be refunded. A lot depends on whether or not you want to go the distance, bjj80. It’s important that you do, bjj80 – for the pricipal.
If you have not reported in, please do using the report a fake tab and send the info to us. You can also help against safe2star by looking at recent positive feedback and begin warning other buyers. You only get to send 5 messages a day, but the more people help the faster we can get this difficult fake flash memory seller suspended.

I just pictured the SD card fakes and his shipping envelope and put it back into Ebay.de under # 200526993544 and # 200526993622 with the whole name of the cheater Gheorghe Mircovici and his full address Kaiserfeldgasse 2 in 8190 Birkfeld Österreich (Austria) and of course his phone #00433174 30810 (you are invited to give him a call after midnight and congratulate him for cheating so many people and still being alive) and his emailaddress sinnicolau2008@hotmail.com and his ebaynames artinfo2008 where he cheated me and of course also his other ebaynames calipso—shop and artimashop2009 where he sells more fake shit. Since Ebay might like to remove this special offer I also put it at hood.de and if they too should remove it will put it onto my own website so he can be found everywhere by google, a very nice tool! So the above ebay listing offers the fakes to him to be bought back at a slightly higher price so he can have it disappearing from Ebay (but not here anymore)! I can only recommend this system to everyone being cheated thru Ebay, just offer it back to the cheater! And there is even something for Ebay, they can profit again from that!!

I don’t know why people buy this knowing well that the item is being sell at less than half the actual price. What more they can expect than a fake copy for such a low price
I think this is to do with buyers as well because they want to save some money by gambling on the item incase it worked from them. Buyers are not angels themselves !!
No offence but the buyers has let themselves to be a victim of this thing more than the seller !

If you could give me a piece of advice what would be the most logical to do now I would be grateful. Looks like the seller is an innocent guy but I don’t want to send it to him again. I’d prefer rather to send a video of destroying it.
Anyway it’s good he reacted so fast in that way. Good for him and appreciate it.
