eBay – Top 25 Countries Frauded. Fake Flash Memory Items Available On Ebay. 200912

Posted by KittyFireFlash on December 27, 2009

SOSFakeFlash’s data for December 2009 reveals the top 25 countries where eBay Members have been frauded. Data exists on 821 eBay sellers. The current team stuggles to investigate and document fraudulent sellers.

eBay refuses to address the issue and protect it’s members against fake flash memory items such as mp3 mp4 players, memory cards and usb flash drives.

Buyer protection is a myth, a sham. There is no such thing as buyer protection on eBay. If sellers are being suspended or stopped it is because individual members, disgusted at the magnitude of fraud have chosen to fight back. They are contacting other eBay members to “share their buyer experience“.

Paypal in an attempt to pacify angry eBay members has been issuing “courtesy refunds” to victims. They clearly stipulate they are doing this as a favour, not as an obligation. Is this fair? Victims, while relieved to receive refunds from PayPal, are angry. They do not feel that it should be a “favour” but see it as their obligation!

Is your country among the top 25?

Singapore eBay Fake Flash Memory Sellers Are Now Using This Country To Ship False Capacity USB Flash Drives, MP3 MP4 Players And Memory Cards. SOSFakeFlash Requests Your Help!

Posted by KittyFireFlash on December 2, 2009

eBay sellers based in China and Hong Kong who engage in fraud are now using Singapore to ship out their false capacity USB flash drives, MP3 MP4 Players and memory cards.

SOSFakeFlash is not certain why Singapore is being used as the new shipping location. Examination of countries visiting SOSFakeFlash reveals that both China and Singapore are accounting for approximately 30% of visits. This is odd. No one from China or Singapore has reported a fake flash memory item purchased on eBay recently.

Obviously we have a new reader audience and we don’t think they are victims of fake flash memory items purchased. You can draw your own conclusions. We have noticed a lot of eBayers complaining about not receiving their fake flash memory items (items we already have on file). It appears that authorities in China, specifically Hong Kong may be inspecting mail and out going shipments, impounding items for fake flash sellers reported at SOSFakeFlash. It would explain why a lot of victims are reporting a Singapore shipping address instead of the traditional Hong Kong address.

We ask that everyone make sure to send in the address for their fake flash seller as listed on envelopes so we can record in the database. Some buyers are reporting that eBay sellers are not writing a return address in a attempt to evade detection or information being collected on them. Well they can’t completely evade. To send there must be stamps or a postal stamp of sending location. If you don’t have full addressing information, send in the origin of the stamps or postal stamp. Mail can not be sent without a place of origin.

If you file a dispute with paypal they have to give you an address. If it is incomplete (often the case for experienced fake flash memory sellers) immediately report the problem to paypal and eBay. They need to know and if they have incomplete information it shows how irresponsible they are. Challenge them.

Some victims believe that there are only 45 days to file a dispute with paypal. Not true. There are 180 days for Paypal to raise an investigation. The key to a refund is to refuse to be frauded or accept “No” as the answer. Read: Trouble With A PayPal Claim? Filed A Dispute? Useful Information.

Other victims who will not let the matter rest with eBay get what is called a “Complimentary” refund from eBay. It is insulting. It implies eBay is doing you a special favor. Nothing is further from the truth. It is hush money, get lost and forget about the problem money. Hold them accountable. If they give you the money fine, but contact other victims for your seller to rescue them and increase the pressure on eBay, PayPal and fake flash memory seller. Enjoy it! Let them feel your pain and hear your voice against fraud!

SOSFakeFlash is currently deep in investigations. It is hard to keep up. We are happy to report that http://fakeflashnews.wordpress.com/ has agreed to help us out. They will be publishing mini alerts against fake flash sellers being reported to us while we probe more deeply on other issues.

The counterfeit ring on eBay we called “Kaki Bukit” is growing! The address is:

30 kaki buldt rd 3
#06-03/04 empire techno ctr
singapore
418713

It could change soon. Those who fraud try to evade us at SOSFakeFlash. We need your help! Please send in the addresses you have for an eBay fake flash memory seller.

If you are a victim, the best way you can help is to warn other eBay members! Read: How To Warn Others On eBay As A Fake Flash Angel – Fight Back Against Fake MP Players, Memory Cards, USB Flash Drives – A Guide

Urgent! Singapore Is Being Used By eBay Fake Flash Memory Sellers Registered In China and Hong Kong. Report In To SOSFakeFlash Immediately! 64GB Is The Major Target.

Posted by KittyFireFlash on November 1, 2009

Please test the memory capacity of any usb flash drive, mp3 mp4 player or memory card you purchased on eBay immediately and sent to you from Singapore. Check your postage envelopes for stamps and addressing information. It does not matter if you purchased from an eBay seller registered in Hong Kong, China or elsewhere. If your merchandise arrives from Singapore you should test the items memory capacity before using to avoid the risk of losing files and information.

The war on eBay fake flash memory sellers continues to escalate. Usually eBay sellers registered in China, ship their fake wares from Hong Kong. This is changing. It is possible that the Hong Kong law authorities are scrutinizing out going postal shipments more carefully. SOSFakeFlash in an October report highlights fake flash memory sellers on eBay are changing tactics to continue with their fraud.

For testing and software information please read: H2testw 1.4 – Gold Standard In Detecting USB Counterfeit Drives

The 64GB flash memory size has been targeted. So far three id’s have been linked in a counterfeit ring. We suspect quite a few recently suspended sellers are also involved. There are other sellers active and listing also suspected as part of the ring. To document and connect the dots we need any addressing information you have. Please send the information to sosfakeflashdrive@gmail.com for the eBay seller id involved. If you have the item on hand and, find you have a fake for your seller please report in using the Report A Fake Tab . SOSFakeFlash needs YOUR assistance!

Hello

I thought I would let you know as I wanted it entered into the database as evidence and so that you can post an alert.
Also, I have had feedback from other user’s with similar issues and who I have advised about you’re website.

SharpEdge said:

I asked for a replacement (tested BEFORE shipping) .

My email to seller:

Dear mememao9898,

Received item – thanks.
However, copied 9Gb of data but upon retrieving -corrupted.
Verified data as good ,re-copied but again, upon retrieval – corrupted.
Seems that after 4Gb – corrupts.
Checked with a recommended usb testing tool which verified that it’s only 3.8Gb storage capacity.
I would like to return the item for replacement.
Please supply full address for return and confirmation of you’re return policy.
Could you check the replacement and verify that it is 16Gb BEFORE sending.

Regards

– SharpEdge

SharpEdge observed:

As you can see , no option but refund even though I asked for REPLACEMENT rather than refund.

My email to seller:

I see that the refund transaction is already progress.
I did not really want a refund but a replacement.
Anyway ….thanks .
I have been to the Post Office and the cheapest shipping/postage option available is at £6.19 (this is more than half of the cost of the device !!!).
Please let me know if you are willing to reimburse/credit and then I will send/ship the faulty/fake device.
Also, how will this be paid to me when you receive it ?
Please advise and I will send you authentication of post/shipping and tracking of the parcel.
Or better still, please send another replacement (checked and verified that it is definitely 16Gb and I will pay immediately – see my profile).

– SharpEdge

Sellers response:

Dear SharpEdge,

Dear friend,

Thanks for your reply and your checking with the post office.

The postage cost in your palce is still too high to us.

If we get it back, lessing the post cost and our human resource cost, we could not get much back.

And we have got one other device which got the same problem as yours back already.

So, in this case, please keep it.

Thanks

– mememao9898

SharpEdge Action:

OUTCOME : REFUNDED and item smashed and disposed due to faulty and fake.

SharpEdge suspicions:

In 2008 at the end of August, members of the FrankenFlash project launched this website to provide information and assistance to victims of false capacity usb flash drives, memory cards and mp players.

Beware of eBay Sellers Who Demand You Withdraw Negative feedback!

Posted by KittyFireFlash on July 27, 2009

Ebay sellers do not have the right to ask members to change their feedback as a condition of refund. It is a direct violation of eBay policy! See eBay – What To Do When Sellers Demands You Change Your Negative Feedback To Positive For A Refund Or Demands Positive As A Condition Of Refund – A Guide

The reason so many eBay members continue to suffer fraud is that they change their feedback! Yes, it is true. In doing this a fraudulent seller continues. The seller makes more victims. So if you are a victim of a fake usb flash drive or mp player or memory card – do not be surprised. It is very sad. eBay members, trying to get their money back betray other ebay members! Do not get angry with them. Most will never get their money back. In betraying you, they learn the hard way, no refund.

Stand up. Fight! Don’t believe what we are saying? see dingdingstore11

dingdingstore11

Decide. Are you a person who believes fraud is wrong? Is the only thing that matters is YOU? Or do you belive it is wrong to fraud people? If you think it is wrong to fraud, you have a choice to make. Stand up and sayNO! or crawl on your belly and change your feedback. We know just how hard it is to earn money. It hurts. Are you the kind of person who thinks only of yourself, or do you think of other people too?

eBay seller dingdingstore11 is a nasty piece of work. His reply demonstrates why YOU became a victim!

If you believe it is wrong to fraud people, you need to add your voice. It means you do not give in. It means you fight. You care about others. You warn other eBay members. You don’t let fraudsters get away with selling fake mp players, memory cards or usb flash drives.

It can be a bitter experience. It is also a test of who you are, what you beleive in. Make sure you report to eBay and PayPal. Record any seller such as dingdingstore11 who was stupid enough to demand that you change your negative feedback for a refund. Trap them!

Understand that in changing your feedback, you are not necessarily going to get your refund, You will not have an opportunity to change it again and you will create more victims. Decide.

United States – Canada – Australia – Europe: eBay Sellers Of Fake MP Players, Memory Cards, USB Flash Drives. Blind Pursuit Of Greed and The Get Rich Quick Scheme.

Posted by KittyFireFlash on June 12, 2009

Ebay Fake Flash Sellers in the United States, Canada, Australia and Europe are different from their Oriental cousins. Most Oriental fake flash sellers are just trying to move low capacity chips at their actual price with a modest mark up – to achieve this they just digitally alter the chips to appear the size consumers are interested in.

Fake flash eBay sellers elsewhere, only see Hugh dollar signs – get rich quick schemes. The majority do not do their product homework, they dive into the fake flash bargain bin at wholesaling internet sites in the Orient. Their goal? To buy a 32GB usb flash drive at $6 US and sell it at $40 US or more! Do you think the Project is pulling your leg? Read: Wholesale Prices For Fake Sony Kingston Counterfeit USB Flash Drives 16GB 32GB 64Gb 120GB 240GB 360GB 500GB

Their markup is unrealistic, but again greed blinds people. Times are hard and many just want to believe that selling flash based devices will quickly earn them many pots of gold. All financial woes to end, easy money here I come!

The number of eBay sellers who have been caught for selling fake flash in North America and Europe is not small. While some have been prodded into removing their listings quickly when good souls like you contact them to:

1) test
2) read up on the subject

others quickly flipped the switch on their auction listing to “Private Auctions” to avoid detection, refusing to allow anyone to spoil their profit objectives.

Worse still, are eBay fake flash victims who turn to the dark side. Having been sold fakes, they feel they have a right to sell them to others. Pass the Buck. If I got scr*wed why shouldn’t you. Diabolical, but true!

There are others but the stories depressing and miserable.

To the Project, the only thing worse than a fake flash seller is a fake flash victim who tries to sell his fakes to others.

The saddest case on file is a seller in Spain who sold his fake to a brand new eBay member – his very first purchase on eBay!

This might seem gloomy about eBay sellers outside of the Orient. You need to know there are positive outcomes. eBay sellers who having discovered they were selling fakes, make it a point to contact every single buyer and refund them! Apologize too. These sellers are classified as “Victim Sellers”. They helped to co-found the FrankenFlash Project with eBayer victims. Are you surprised?

eBay is a mirror of the world in which we live. The same applies to eBay and PayPal – as many companies that have followed the cost cutting mantra of this age, they have forgotten about who matters, who gives them business – YOU!

So what did you pay for your false capacity device from an eBay seller in United States or Canada or Australia or Europe? Did you pay a lot more than from Oriental fake flash sellers? The average bid prices up to the end of May 2009 are:

eBaySellersByContinentPricesFakeFlashDevicesByContinent200905Data-small

You will see that outside of the orient (under Asia) , the bid prices are higher for eBay sellers located on other continents. It makes little difference. A Fake is a fake. Only buyers attempting to avoid the orient thinking that they will get a true capacity flash device and who buy elsewhere, are just as likely to fall into the fake flash pit. Why? The prices paid are not in line with the true costs. There is little mark up or profit to be made selling these items, unless you can move in very large quantities.

We also need to be fair here. The current state of the global economy is partly due to a problem in values and beliefs. For too long everyone has believed you can get “more for less”. The fact is as we have said repeatedly – there is a rock bottom fair price. If you go below this, you will not get what you are expecting. It is impossible to deliver to you. No one sells to lose money.

The echo of all fake flash victims is the same. “I did not know”. Everyone including members of the FrankenFlash Project thought they were just cutting out the middle men. It is a rude surprise and awakening for all. In some cases with tragic consequences – permanent data loss. Most fake flash victims as a result of their ordeal and that includes members of the Project, became wiser as a result of this horrible experience.

If it is too good to be true, it usually is…

As a result of this experience many no longer buy on eBay and quite a few have left PayPal tool. Most victims are resolved to buy locally from reputable sellers and are now willing to pay the true and realistic prices for mp players, usb flash drives and memory cards.

6 Continents eBay Fake MP Players – USB Pen Drives – Memory Cards – SOSFakeFlash

Posted by KittyFireFlash on June 6, 2009

The FrankenFlash Project has been tracking where fake Fake MP Players, USB Pen Drives and memory cards sold on eBay go. SOSFakeFlash has spend thirteen months investigating counterfeits. Presented by the six continents of Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania and South America the information is current ending in May 2009.

eBayFakeFlashDevicesByContinent200905-small

What were the average eBay bid prices for the fake usb memory sticks, MP Players and memory cards investigated by the advertised capacity on eBay?

eBayFakeFlashDevicesByContinent200905Data-small

The different sites in the FrankenFlash project have been researching the cost of flash drive chips. Recently FlashChipTutor learned that the cost has doubled per Gigabyte at the beginining of the year. Previously it was $1 US dollar per GB but now is $2 US. It should be noted that this is for the smaller chips and not the latest ones. Much also depends on the quality of the flash drive nand chip.

If one uses this rule of thumb it could mean that the current cost of an 8GB chip is? 8×2= 16 $US Dollars. What would it be for

Note that the average prices are over a 13 month period of data collection. Recently we had several resellers inform us that the cost for flash chips have been rising as FlashChipTutor predicted they would. To find out what the real costs are for flash chips please read:

Full Report Ebay 200804 – 200905 Counterfeit And Fake Memory Cards, MP Players, Flash Memory USB Pensticks Sold On eBay By Seller To Help You Recognize The Fakes

Posted by techchips on June 6, 2009

The new edition of the master report on eBay fake flash devices sold by seller now contains 13 months of data. Presented to you by the FrankenFlashProject this new report contains 390 sellers and 1,044 models, the majority with photos used at auction. Previously this report was referred to as the fake flash sellers mug shot report.

In the early months of the battle to rid eBay of these fraudsters, there was less emphasis on documenting and preserving all the fakes investigated. At the time, SOSFakeFlash and Ebayers Against Fake Flash Devices thought through effort and arm twisting eBay would finally wake up after fives years and address the issue. They did not.

Instead, they attempted to hound and persecute those who worked inside eBay addressing the issue and promoting awareness. Many found themselves suspended or locked out, but for each fake flash angel whose wings were singed another soon stepped forward.

As SOSFakeFlash kept investigating and publishing alerts, eBay began to suspend sellers. At first you might think this is postive, but it also gives eBay the ability to immediately remove all of the sellers listings current and previous; to prevent any further negative feedback from accumulating against a seller. As a result SOSFakeFlash documents in advance to ensure evidence remains and is preserved. While this creates a lot of additional overhead and work, it is necessary so that you might have the master report.

SOSFakeFlash’s Investigative Master Report of ebay fake flash sellers. Devices sold from April 2008 to May 2009.

This file is in pdf format. 2.1 MB is size. Contains 65 pages and is in colour.

You the eBay victims, have made this report possible. By reporting to us using the report a fake tab and by fake flash angel cells sending their contributions, together you build this list! It is something no one can deny. It also means people who have said there is a problem on eBay all these years were not making it up. It is real. Of course eBay already knows this, they just do not want the global public to find out. Get your report and review it for yourselves. What are your conclusions?

Continue to fight back. Contact fellow victims of your fake flash seller and rescue them. You will find some willing to join you if you show you are committed to having the seller REMOVED. If you look at the eBay Fake Flash Sellers List and review the current one you will see many fake flash sellers are under suspension. That is the power of YOU!

FAKE 16GB 32GB 64GB – Conversations Between A Fake Flash Seller and A Victim – The Truth About the Scam Exposed

Posted by KittyFireFlash on June 5, 2009

Why are fake usb pen sticks, MP players and memory cards sold on eBay? The false capacity ranging from 2GB 4GB 8GB 16GB 32GB 60GB 64GB 120GB 240GB 260GB 360GB to 500GB sizes.

One size is advertised but the true size is much smaller! You buy a 16GB MP player but only get 2GB or 4GB of storage. You buy a 16GB usb flash drive and get 1GB or 2GB of storage, maybe 4GB if you are lucky. You buy a 16GB memory card and only get 2GB or 4GB. When it comes to usb flash drives and memory cards, the digital alteration of the controller flash chip is deadly – you lose your data! Do the ebay sellers know what they are doing? Is there a reason?

Recently SOSFakeFlash asked for stories, experiences. We received one, an explicit conversation between a fake flash seller and a buyer victim. It dates to the summer of 2008 and nothing since has changed. It is published exactly as received. It might be long but if you want answers start reading! Read the rest of this entry »

32GB Kingston DT150 32GB DataTraveler USB Flash Drive Counterfeits eBay Scandal – Wholesale Costs For Counterfeits

Posted by KittyFireFlash on April 9, 2009

You can buy counterfeit 32GB Kingston DT150 32GB DataTraveler USB Flash Drives on internet wholesale sites in the orient for as little as $14 US. Imagine your reselling profits until you get caught! Police and Buyers knocking on your door. Here is a perfect example of upgrading – read – digitally altering a small flash drive to appear bigger to an operating system – see the listing below.

Recently three eBay sellers: minggege99, nuiren2008, abestpartner0 together sold over 4,500 units on eBay. eBay members reported them to SOSFakeFlash. Soon internet alerts were published and negatives poured in. The FrankenFlash Project websites went to work. All three sellers are now toast. Angry buyers are storming PayPal demanding FULL Refunds. With over 4,500 fakes sold you can imagine what this means for PayPal and the dispute console – it is sizzling.

Do not buy this usb flash drive on eBay. Do not buy it at internet wholesalers in the orient – especially if you plan to resell. The profit margin for selling genuine usb flash drives is small. Sorry but large retail chains do not have a large mark up – they make their profit in moving volume not per item. If you are an eBay seller you could probably make more profit baking and selling cookies at a local fund raiser than from selling genuine usb flash drives. Not convinced? Visit Flash Drive Facts and start reading on the subject.

Important Reading:

Report in to SOSFakeFlash if your testing confirms you have a false capacity device.

If you want to review all the counterfeits found on eBay you can visit these two sites. Just type in the word Kingston in the search box to see what is currently documented:
