Who Do You Report Fake Flash Memory Purchased On eBay First? eBay Or SOSFakeFlash? Understand The Truth And Your Part In Fraud Memory Fraud.

Posted by KittyFireFlash on October 3, 2011

If you suspect you bought a fake capacity MP Player, usb flash drive or memory card on eBay there are five things you need to do:

#1 The first thing you need to do is test with H2testw to determine the real capacity against what the seller advertised.

#2 The second thing you need to do, is report to SOSFakeFlash as fast as you can!

tab to get your evidence in. It is your voice, your testament to the fraud. You have no idea how important this is, but eBay does and they will do their best to vacuum the internet as fast as they are able. Hide as much as they can from consumers, eBay needs the sales, even if the flash memory capacity is fake. They need the money, they do not care about the buyers. If they did, they would change how flash memory is listed on eBay.

Consider what one buyer had to say, just how simple it could be to reduce the fraud:

What is your opinion?

#3 The third thing you need to do, is check if other buyers for the seller bought the item you did. If so, begin warning them immediately to test the item so they do not lose data.

How To Warn Others On eBay As A Fake Flash Angel – Fight Back Against Fake MP Players, Memory Cards, USB Flash Drives – A Guide

Do you wish somebody had warned you? Do you want to stop the seller? You would be surprised how rewarding it can be to warn other people. You will get some personal satisfaction, you did something positive. The truth is, only buyers stop sellers, stop the fraud on eBay and reduce the number of victims. If there is one thing eBay dislikes more than the FrankenFlash Project, it is buyers who choose to warn their fellow buyers.

#4 The fourth thing to do if you bought a brand name item, is to contact the brand name and let them know about the item listing on eBay. Most provide validation for items. Some such as Kingston Technologies have excellent support and will issue you an email confirming to you that purchased a counterfeit item, a fake. It is something eBay can not argue with and is very useful to send your credit card company!

Brand names need your support to spot the listings for fakes on eBay. They know how to pressure eBay to remove them. They do take action.

#5 The last thing to do, is file a dispute against the seller and protest to eBay and or PayPal.

You might wonder why filing a dispute or contacting eBay should be the last thing to do if you bought a fake memory item on eBay. Perhaps you need to read:

If you bought on eBay, it means you trusted them. If your internet journey led you to SOSFakeFlash, then you know something is wrong. Your illusions about eBay crumbling. Do not feel foolish, you are not the first person to suffer the fraud and you are not the last one either. The question is, how much longer will it go on. Will it be 10,000 people frauded every month or 100,000, the choice is yours to make about flash memory on eBay.

Do you want to know more?

SOSFakeFlash is moving to a new phase in the battle against fake memory on eBay, phase IV. At the moment it is “need to know” only basis. As eBay monitors our sites in the FrankenFlash Project, we monitor them. The fake flash memory sellers monitor us both. You can draw your own conclusions.

Who would think upgraded flash memory would be so dark, so cloak and dagger? It’s not something from Hollywood, it is the real world. The bottom line is a simple one, money, profit. Demand creates supply, no demand for the illusion of big flash memory capacity at amazingly cheap prices, no supply. If there is a demand, expect everyone interested in profit with no scruples to jump in and grab a piece of the pie.

eBay seller country of registration is not the deciding factor for acquiring false flash memory capacity. In the last year the has been an escalation for western sellers. Recently, however sellers registered in Asia are returning in record numbers. This could be due to the fact that many used ids registered in other countries and realizing it did not help, the ids caught all the same. The fees charged for Western seller ids are also much higher on eBay, unfairly so. It is possible that due to the global recession and in an attempt to cut their costs they are returning to id’s registered in Asia, we do not know.

The pressure to dump fakes on eBay is clear, those old 2GB and 4GB flash memory chips are worthless, except in fakes. There is a hugh stock pile of Grade C and D available in China. The profit margin for these chips is unbelievable. These flash memory chips instead of being destroyed as they should be are “recycled” into the fakes consumers buy.

The most important actions you can take are to warn other buyers for a seller who left positive feedback and to promote awareness on the internet. If you have a facebook account you should warn the people you know by linking an article at SOSFakeFlash – you do not want them to make your mistake.

You should not be intimidated by any eBay listings that states “No Returns” when the item turns out to be false capacity. Fraud is fraud and there is no technicality to save a seller from responsibility. eBay makes it clear a seller is responsible for the contents of the listing – period.

You should not fall for a 45 day claim window or be intimidated by it on eBay. This is one of the reasons it is so important for buyers to leave negative feedback – eBay can not erase it and it makes it clear what the item really is.

Most victims will tell you, if you purchased with a credit card instead of your bank account for PayPal, you are more likely to get a faster refund by contacting the credit card about the fraud and asking for a reversal. This is a secret most victims do not know. Credit cards strive to protect their clients from fraud, they are interested in your long term loyalty and customer satisfaction. They do not want you to be hurt, they want to protect you.

Unfortunately with eBay it is the opposite. They want you to believe they will protect you, but the truth is, it is the last thing they are really interested in. If you find this difficult to believe, then go to the first post at SOSFakeFlash and start clicking forward. It could take you a day or two and your mouse fingers are going to get very sore. By the time you reach the current post, you will be wanting to close your eBay account. Unfortunately, many flash memory victims on eBay do just that. We find that sad at SOSFakeFlash, there are a lot of nice things to buy on eBay – only not in Flash Memory!

So long as the fraudulent flash memory sellers continue to rule on eBay, the honest sellers who charge fair prices will suffer and continue to go out of business. The honest sellers keep giving up, one by one. They can not make a modest profit, the fees charged by eBay and PayPal bleed them dry. Their listings almost always appear at the end of a search and do you know why?

Because buyers sort by the cheapest price first! If you want to spot the fakes, do just that. If you want to try and find the honest sellers, then sort the other way around, highest price first! You will have a better chance of getting real capacity for flash memory on eBay.

Price isn’t always the main factor that leads to buying fake memory on eBay, but it is the most consistent one. The most consistent one for over nine years.

Victims need to channel their anger positively, constructively. They can meekly accept the fraud, or they can chose to fight back. It is an individual choice and it reveals more about you as a person then you ever imagined.

We not only publish warnings and alerts against fake flash memory sellers, we also publish news updates:

If you want less people to suffer, get the message out! Educate, use the internet positively to spread the message.

eBay still remains the place to NOT BUY memory cards, usb flash drive pen memory and MP Players. It is the most dangerous place to buy them. Some day it might be different, but for now it remains the place to be scammed and frauded.
