    @Maria

4GB flash storage chip, not 32GB as advertised. The 3.4GB report instead of 3.9GB may be due to a 2nd partition. For MP Players this is often seen.

In plain talk, you bought what is known as ‘fake’ – false capacity. The MP Player has been hacked to pretend it is 32GB.

Are you referring to your comment:

? For the report above you only tested partially. A test of the flash memory chip requires you test the full capacity seen or reported, not just the begining. If you only test a small part you might still be in the real capacity area. This is what your test revealed.

Everyone should test the full reported capacity. Do not take short cuts. Make sure you select the options to do so. It could take a long time, so run it overnight when you are not using your computer.

H2testw tests the reported or seen capacity. That is how it discovers if you have a genuine item or a false capacity one. You can find more details or technical information in the readme.txt file that comes with the programme.

For curious or brave with gentle fingers, you can open the item and decode the chips.

    Great documentation Maria!

It is standard behavior for fake flash memory sellers to try and get people to remove their negative feedback. They use refunds as a hostage. Unfortunately too many eBay members cave in and accept them.

In many cases they never get the refund. As far as we are concerned, serves them right! It is very foolish to be believe a seller.

At one point we almost shut down the project in disgust. Why bother when people chose to betray others? It’s not like we get paid for the work we do or anything. We earn zip. Nada. Nothing for our efforts to help others.

The real reason they try to get people to change feedback is because it brings them to the attention of eBay. If their score drops eBay will have no choice but to suspend them. They fear that. In some cases they have offered bribes. More money than the buyer ever paid. Anything to move the exposure and to continue engaging in fraud.

It really makes the pioneers of the project angry when we all see eBay members change their feedback.

A lot of decent people refused to change feedback. They suffered the financial loss and many could not really afford it. Why did they do it?

Because they knew there would be more victims like you, Maria. You and others were more important than the money they lost.

In IMHO, it reveals a person’s character. There are those who refuse to be frauded and fight back and are even willing to suffer the consequences (financial loss) in some cases. There are those who are complacent, who will think only of themselves. The big “Me, Myself and I”.

How a person chooses to deal with being frauded on eBay reveals a great deal about themselves.

To everyone with courage, we salute you! It is why we continue on your behalf.

Keep leaving “SOSFakeFlash” and “H2testw” in your feedback! eBay doesn’t have the manpower to remove them all! 😆

BTW, they are just too cheap anyway.

Keep contacting other buyers for your fake flash memory seller scam artist. You save others and you also make the scores go down and down and down!

Thx, Maria for your story. People need reminding how fake flash memory sellers operate.

you’re welcome, KittyFireFlash, i am surely not going to change my negative feedback, even for full price. if there is a way to fight them, i’d like to be a part of it. it’s terrible how they make money off selling fakes to people.

  13. KittyFireFlash said

    Hi Maria,

Start by contacting some buyers who leave positive feedback and warn them to test. Make sure you stay with in the 5 a day limit.

It is terrible. The fraud is unbelivable. The question is…how can we educate buyers? Most people just do not know how expensive genuine flash memory chips are. The larger the capacity the MORE expensive!!!!!!!
