cy.yaya eBay devious fake flash memory seller is not happy. He changed his id from yaya06032009 in an attempt to escape the consumer alert issued by SOSFakeFlash.
eBay sellers of hacked usb flash drives are learning private auction listings will no longer protect them from frauded buyers. It might take a little longer for them to be detected but not as long as it used to. The secret about fake memory being sold on eBay is no longer a secret.

Bought this drive from yaya about a month ago…got refund and then some. He/She has been bugging the crap out of me to remove my negative feedback. I revised it to show they made good with the refund, but I won’t dare say anything else, since the drive I bought was sold as a 16GB drive, and it tested as a 2GB drive. Luckily, and thanks to SOS, I was able to reformat the drive back to it’s original 2GB size and make it usable again. So, I made out with a refund and got to keep the drive. Thanks, YaYa for a crappy, yet oddly satisfying transaction! 🙂

Greg,
Good on you for not changing your negative feedback!
They currently have no items listed. Could be on their way to suspension or in hibernation.
Consider warning other buyers:

I bought a ’16gb’ USB drive from this guy 2 weeks ago. Today got an email from eBay Loss Prevention department saying the listing had been removed because of suspected fraud, and asking me to file a paypal dispute to get my money back. Grrr….

We’re writing to let you know that the listing for the following item you bid on has been removed:

We strongly recommend that you do not complete this purchase. Purchases of items listed on eBay but then completed outside of eBay are extremely risky. They are not covered by eBay buyer protection programs and are highly susceptible to fraud.

Daffyd,
please update us with your progress. Thank you for the excellent documentation.
As for eBay saying:
We have only one response. Who are they trying to kid? RARE? As this site documents, it is not rare at all.
eBay and fake flash seller hope that victims think they are alone. Divide. Conquer. Both would have you believe you are the exception. Nothing is further from the truth.
It is interesting to see eBay recommend things we have been promoting for 2 years.
SOSFakeFlash has one message for victims – use your head and do not believe a fake flash memory sellers whining tall tails or eBay attempting to make you believe your situation is unique. It is not.
95% of all listings for usb flash drives, memory cards or mp players are for fakes! False capacity. Buy these items on eBay, and you are likely to visit this site!

I got a refund from Paypal in the end. Took months of wrangling though, I thought since ebay and paypal are now the same company they would work together better. But even though ebay admitted it was a fraudulent listing paypal wouldn’t pay up for ages. So much for buyer protections.
Oh well, i got the money in the end, and managed to convert the USB drive into a working 64MB one(!)
