Greetings from Moscow!,
Today, too, wrote a complaint to the pay-pal.
My results are the same as you.
I think it would be difficult to return the money, because this seller did not sell.
Only collect feedback.
I hope that we will punish this seller!
babdima said
I also sent 5 messages to customers! Please do the same for all!

Greetings babdima!
Thank you for joining to help as a Fake Flash Angel to warn others. It is so important.
Collecting addresses for sellers is also important. We need people to send them in to us and they may also leave the addresses on an alert for the seller as a comment.
The bad sellers are many times members of counterfeit rings operating on eBay. We can stop them if people help and give us information.
Good news is that some bad sellers with high feedback score are being forced to use new id’s with very low feedback scores. These are not difficult to stop. If we can get them to use up their reserve id’s then they will be in trouble – unable to sell fake memory because they will have suspension.

I am communicating with PayPal.
Initially got automatic response from them with instruction back to seller.
I refused doing it due to obvious reasons. Now got human response from them with promises to investigate the claim.
Interesting thing is message from eBay:
“Our records show that you recently contacted or received messages from wuzhua8 through eBay’s messaging system. This account was recently found to have been accessed by an unauthorized third party, who may have used the account in an attempt to defraud other members.
We’ve taken action to restore this account to the original owner, but…”
Can somebody explain what does it mean? Can it be so that seller was addressed by PayPal and now claims somebody hacked his/her account in order to avoid consequences?
babdima said
I also received a letter from the fact that the ebay account was hacked, but I think that this is a standard letter. I doubt very much that someone’s hacked this account because when I bought a performance rating was minimal.

Mystery.
wuzhua8 eBay account created on Aug-11-03. No activity until October 15, when the id made first purchase. Second purchase December 10. Items of low value, not related to flash memory.
Do not remember when eBay absorbed local chinese website to enter chinese market. It is possible that transactions from before not carried over to eBay system. However it was at least by 2004.
Id first sold 16GB flash usb drives in september.
Is it possible wuzhua8 account was hacked? Yes.
But why would wuzhua8 not know something is wrong? As feedback appears for id. If wuzhua8 bought an item on Dec 10th, wuzhua8 would see how feedback score increased. It is normal to be curious, yes? How feedback score grows when you have been inactive. Is question that wuzhua8 would want to have answsered or report.
Please update site with any new information you receive. This is mysterious case.
If eBay fake flash memory sellers are stealing other eBay member id’s to do fraud, then problem is even bigger than we thought.
Is it true? We do not know. We know much more about fake flash seller ways today then we did 1 year ago. With help from victims we find out more. Report published at site: Fake Flash Memory On Ebay Escalates. SOSFakeFlash Status Report 20091031. Fake Memory Cards, MP3 MP4 Players, USB Flash Drive PenSticks. How To Fight Against Fraud. Has information summary from victim knownledge and experience.
To understand more of the problem, we must be dectives and investigate, everybody can provide information. If it is true that id wuzhua8 hijacked, then problem on eBay and PayPal much much deeper.
ITguy said
An possible explanation is that the account sold or traded to someone. An old established account has some value.
Or did the owner of the account, when they found out they will selling fakes, tell Ebay that the account was hijacked?
KittyFireFlash said
IT Guy,
This is a good point! I would not be surprised to learn that old eBay accounts would be sold to fake flash flash memory sellers. There is definately market potential.
It is also very possible that the owner of the account would try to convince eBay that their id was hijacked.
The fraud is highly organized. It really makes our hair stand up! What we can not understand is how clueless and stupid eBay is?!!!!
Why do we know more about the fraud then they do? They have access to information we do not. The only conclusion we can make is that they know but choose to ignore, to earn the listing fees! At the moment ITguy we have not had any eBay employees come forward to reveal the truth. We wish some employee’s who belive in honesty and truth would contact us. If they are afraid of losing their jobs (something we could understand) they could visit an internet cafe to send us information. sosfakeflashdrive@gamil.com this way they can not be traced by their employer.
We have no doubt that many employees who work for eBay are unhappy about what is occuring. SOSFakeFlash belives that they fear losing their jobs. Understandable given current economic conditions. We do not belive that everyone who works for eBay is a weasal. They are just scared to reveal the truth. We suggest ITguy that they provide information using an internet cafe and a gmail.com account.
It is the only way that eBay employees’s who want eBay to improve and prosper (read, keep their jobs in the future) can help to fight fraud.
Too many eBay members are leaving eBay. They are voting by stopping to buy. Many victims deregister. It is sad for some of us old timers! We like eBay, belive it or not. We hate the fraud that eBay allows for flash memory technology. Gutless!
No one should buy any usb flash drives, memory cards or MP3 MP4 players on eBay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The risk of a fake flash memory item is just too high!
Suckers are born every day. I like many of the members of the Frankenflash project was one of them! We learn, the hard way!
From our study and evidence, there is only one thing that is clear. eBay will continue to allow fake flash memory sellers to list. They need the money from the listing fees. They do not care about eBay members. They are just too desperate for revenue. Ebay has sold it’s soul. The only thing important to them is money. Not you. Not me.!

Hello,
I gave negative feedback.
Also I open dispute in paypal.
Now I get mesage – need send item to seller.
Stuped – shipping with tracking information will cost much.
What else can I do?
Thanks!
babdima said
Hi, I also received a letter today. I do not quite understand. If I send the seller a fake flash and this will inform the tracking number then return the money without having to wait until the parcel reaches the seller?
babdima said
If you send the cheapest parcel that tracking number will still be up to the border of their country. I think it will be enough 🙂
KittyFireFlash said
babdima,
All Paypal wants is the tracking number. When they have, normally they refund you immediately.
We have recent victim who bought fake flash. He is very angry as he must fight with paypal. He also sold very good jacket (never worn) to person in Canada. This person said jacket bad, old. So he wanted refund. Paypal ordered buyer to send back with tracking number. Bad buyer did. A little envelope with dirty t-shirt. Because bad buyer gave paypal tracking number he got refund. Yes, he kept the nice jacket! Sent dirty laundry instead. This is injustice. Fake flash victim tortured twice. By dishonest buyer in Canada, by dishonest seller in China.
It seems paypal likes dishonest people, not good honest citizens.

Communication with PayPal (see below). How many steps should I take to be refunded? Where can I get this document? How much will I pay for that? Will I manage to do it during Christmas period? Oh, camon. PayPal customer protection is a joke.
“To continue with the investigation of your complaint, we must request
documentation to support your claim that the item is not authentic. Please
obtain a document from an unbiased, third-party, such as a dealer,
appraiser, or an organization that is qualified in the area of the item in
question (other than yourself), which clearly identifies the item as not
authentic. The document must specifically state how the item received
differs from an authentic item and must include a detailed explanation of
how the person evaluating the item determined that it is not authentic. If
possible, the document should include a serial number, and must be on
letterhead that includes the name, address, and phone number of the
business or organization so that PayPal may contact them if necessary.
…
We must receive your fax by January 1, 2010 in order to proceed with the
investigation of your claim. If we do not receive your fax by January 1,
2010, your claim will be canceled. We are unable to grant extensions to
this time period. Please note that PayPal is unable to reimburse you for
any costs or fees that may be incurred in obtaining the requested
documents. Any documents you provide may also be supplied to the seller in
your dispute if necessary.”
babdima said
Mindaugas, is asked to do for this fake? I’m shocked! Where can I find a dealer if it is without a name? 🙂 This is a bad joke from paypal. I was simply asked to return it to the seller and tell them the tracking number.
In the claim to paypal, I wrote that the product does not work correctly! I did not write that it is a fake. It turned out that they cavil and cling to the words.
Mindaugas said
Babdima, initially I was also asked to return item back to seller, but I refused doing so due to following reasons:
1. Item is marked as 64 GB, but 4 GB inside. Do not want to send fraudulent item by post.
2. Seller’s address may be incorrect.
3. I will lose my one and only physical proof.
4. I have to pay for shippment, which I do not know how much exactly, but may be half of the item’s actual price.
Now we see that seller was recognized by eBay as hijacked. More complaints to PayPal are coming from more users.
But, personally for me, this case is not about the money (35 USD – small amount), but about the principles. I will do what PayPal asks from me. But I will never again trust that they offer appropriate customer protection and will not recommend neither PayPal neither eBay to my fellow-countryman.

It is important for everyone to remember, “No” is not necessarily NO! with Paypal. Paypal has 180 days to raise an investigation against a seller.
The record is held by an eBay member with the pen name of superman. Superman fought an 8 month battle against many eBay fake flash sellers and PayPal. He got every single penny back. He chose his name – Superman and he lived up to it!

Update:
Faxed requested documents to PayPal, got message that docs are received.
Now after one week of investigation I got following response from them:
“We have concluded our investigation into this case. Unfortunately, at this
time we are unable to decide this claim in your favor.”
and the case is closed. No any explanations. Even though I managed to get what they asked for using my own time and money…
Babdima, any progress with your case?

Hi Mindauga and babdima,
Can you call paypal, force them to put a supervisor on the line? Also have you contacted eBay?
We hear PayPal is desperate. Make their lives a misery. If you paid with Credit Card, call the credit card company. If you have a computer repair store, go to them. Tell them the story. Ask for help, that item is a fake. Ask they write you short letter. Scan it for credit card company and offer to send. It is called a “reversal”. If the credit card company removes money from paypal to give to up. Oh, see how PayPal will run to remove money from fake flash seller, FAST!

I have tried buying many flash products (at least ten) on Ebay in the last three months, and ALL of them 8Gb and up were fake.
It seems *every* Ebay flash memory seller originating in China is in on this scam. I never bought from the same scammer twice, and yet never encountered a non-scammer!
Many of the people I bought from were de-listed before I could leave feedback, so kudos to everyone who has been working on reporting them and getting them kicked off Ebay.

Hello fraudfighters 🙂
My fun with PayPal continues. I made a phone call to Paypal. It took 8 minutes (international call) to go through authorization and explain things to them. I was told that I should not send item back to seller – just wait and … they closed the case again 🙂
Here’s the history:
1. I opened claim.
2. Paypal asked to send item back to seller.
3. I refused doing so.
4. Paypal asked to fax official certificate by authorized company proving that item is not as described.
5. I sent fax to Paypal.
6. Paypal confirmed receival of fax.
7. Paypal asked to send item back to seller anyways. Seller is not registered on ebay anymore and his account is suspected as hacked by somebody.
8. I refused to send item back to seller.
9. Paypal closed the case.
10. I asked to reopen the case.
11. Paypal reopened the case and asked to send item back to seller.
12. I called to Paypal on phone. Paypal’s representative told me that I should not send this item back to seller and Paypal will approach me soon.
13. Paypal closed the case. No refund.
14. …

Nice 😀
I must say that I gave up my fight.
Interface between customer and Paypal is made the way that it is very incovenient to communicate:
1. Customer service by phone in US only. Short working hours.
2. Long identification procedure by phone – just for identification you pay for around 3-4 minutes of international call.
3. If you get e-mail from paypal you cannot easily reply to it – you need to go to their website to fill in the same information again and again.
4. During the process they send stupid (semi)automatic replies.
And now let’s compare them with Neteller which has 24/7 online customer service (at no cost for customer).
Short live, Paypal!

I realized that this type of fraud paypal does not protect, and promote! I found in Russia, hundreds of defrauded customers. Defense them as I have not received. I cease to hold this boondoggle.

Russia gets it in neck. All countries former Soviet USSR, treated bad by ebay and paypee. They have refund problems and punishment. Not fair. Not right.
So to say “item not received” if it is a fake, is better refund, no punishment. To be fair, item must be tested. If judged to be fake memory, give to seller what seller give to you. This is justice.
Only 10% have internet in Russia, maybe more. Message to Russian people necessary.
KittyFireFlash said
Babdima and Seth,
Given the circumstances, that eBay is doing little to protect members in Russia and other countries near by, your suggestion and conclusions are valid.
It is very sad that when eBay members attempt to follow the “Process” they suffer. There are just too many victims who have been frauded and unfortunately have not seen a refund as a result of their efforts.
As for PayPal, they have been trying anything and everything to prevent people from claiming and receiving refunds since the beginning of the FrankenFlash project. Many have fought back and received refunds, but many more have not. This is inexcusable.
Therefore your suggestion is correct for your region, Babdima. There appears to be no other option. Unfortunate but the only way people in Russia can hope to reclaim their very hard earned money. But as Seth mentioned, only after the item has been tested and proven to be a fake, false capacity. There must be some moral high ground.
We advise people never fund any flash memory purchase from their bank account funds in PayPal. Instead it should be funded with a credit card. The reason is, in mnay countries, you will be able to get the credit card company to do a reversal.
Of course you must be prepared to provide them with information (your testing etc) it is why we issue alerts. Furthermore the credit card company can also use the http://toolhaus.org/cgi-bin/negs and type in the seller id to further investigate your claim (why it is so important for eBay members to leave negative feedback for a fake flash memory seller!).
When the credit card company refunds you, they remove the funds from PayPal. As a result PayPal magically springs into action and removes the funds from the seller. eBay however does not suffer, especailly when the seller paid listing feeds (not always the case for most eBay sellers in China who sell on eBay.com).
Around the world we are in a grave economic situation, regardless of what local news might report. Money is hard to earn. In Russia and surrounding regions even harder. It is wrong for members to suffer because eBay will not take charge or prevent the fraud.
This is a war. There are many battles that have been fought and unfortunately, more battles to come. We wish it would end so we could go back to having normal lives, private lives. Until eBay addresses the issue, it can not be.
To Everyone
The pressure must continue. Advise people in forums in your country on the best and most effective way to be refunded.
To anyone who wishes to repair a fake flash memory item, be sure to read: Should You Repair A Fake USB Flash (Pen) Drive? and also InspectorTech’s FAQ first.

HI:
I purchased 30 64GB flash drives ($750 USD) from wuzhua8 in November 2009. I was watching all the info on fake flash drives. (BTW i bought a bunch of earbuds from him that worked great) He shipped them express. We got them here in Chicago and started testing immediately. During the testing we confirmed they were fakes. During the Testing, and before the 7 days ran out, we received a message from eBay that these were fakes.
We contacted wuzhua8. He said to return them. Just to be sure, we opened a dispute with PayPal. They had contacts with wuzhua8. They gave us an address to return them. The address was different than the one we got them from — now they were to be returned to the mainland.
I sent them via US Mail in December 2009. However, I didn’t get signature verification. This came back to bite me when I called customer service at PayPal. I got switched to a supervisor, at my insistence. they were polite.
After some more time passed, I called back to PayPal. The operator put a note on the file, she interpreted the Chinese saying the package was not yet delivered. Three days later I received an email that my claim was denied. I filed an appeal.
The appeal process was denied because I could not prove they were delivered.
ON or about March 14, 2010, I was amazed that the package was returned to me in Chicago. It was still SEALED with the US POSTAGE seal. Many kudos to the Chinese postal service !!
After a few faxes and follow-ups, my appeal was granted and the money immediately transferred to my account.
