August 2009 – SOSFakeFlash Battle Plan
Posted by KittyFireFlash on August 3, 2009
Welcome to SOSFakeFlash’s new “Public” notice board for strategy to continue purging eBay of fake flash sellers. This is a new board. You will always find it under Category: Battle Plan – Strategy. Also see: Using The SOSFakeFlash Battle Plan Bulletin Boards – How They Work – Rules
The objective is to channel the energy of independent fake flash angels and commando’s to zero in on the important issues and tasks.
- Baby Fake Flash Seller Id’s
- Powerseller Fake Flash Seller Id’s Zapping
Baby fake flash seller id’s are being suspended quickly by eBay. This is good news. It prevents fraudulent sellers from building scores that can withstand negative feedback from buyers.
We are introducing a new notice board – Ebay Fake Flash Seller Hot List. You will always find it under Category: Battle Plan — Fake Flash Hot List. This board is for very dangerous sellers, especially powersellers. The objective is for victims to focus on these sellers and bring down their feedback scores – to the level where eBay can suspend them. This forces the fraudsters to switch to another id.
Is this a good thing? Yes. It means that victims can now focus on reducing another of their powerseller id’s to ashes. If you have any spare time you can contact buyers on for sellers on this list to warn them to test! If they have a fake and left positive feedback have them march to PayPal with a claim, send complaints to eBay. If the seller is still listing those confirmed fake flash items, have victims report every single listing, one by one to eBay. When different people do this, sleeping eBay awakes.
Meanwhile, if you patrol and keep the fake flash counterfeit rings in the Orient from planting new baby id’s their precious high score id’s will be suspended; their opportunity to groom and grow replacement id’s starved.
This month’s objective – send as many powersellers to eBay fake flash seller prison (suspension) and prevent the grooming of baby id’s to take their place.
You may use this Battle Plan for the month of August to report suspected Baby Id’s and your independent progress. There will be a new battle plan issued every month and the old one closed. Please do not use your real eBayer id’s to comment. Chose a name for yourself – your identity at SOSFakeFlash.

I’ve recieved this from eBay/Paypal after filing a claim:
“If you’re filing a claim because you believe that you received counterfeitmerchandise, we may ask you to submit a letter of inauthenticity from areputable expert who can substantiate your claim.
This letter should be on official letterhead and include contactinformation so that we may discuss your case with the expert, if necessary. You are responsible for any costs associated with this appraisal.”
A letter!? Official letterhead!?

Hi Andrea,
This is the standard cookie cut nonsense from paypal. How they like to dive into the sewer to keep their pennies!

Could some help in contacting buyers of 128GB flash drives from seller aam2003spd09
I was able to contact only one buyer of seller aam2003spd09 who tested their drive and found it be a fake. Buyer indicated that seller was quick to give a refund.
Seller is still not responding to my msgs and is now selling waterproof mp3 players.
For some reason (ebay blocking?) I cannot contact any of the buyers of flash drives from this seller.
Could other people try?

I discovered this site today while doing some due diligence research when I saw how insanely cheap flash drives seem to be on ebay. I am surprised at how big a problem fake flash drives are. It should be obvious to buyers that they are looking at a scam, but the desire to have something really cheaply drowns out common sense for a lot of people. People want to think they got a super special deal, that they are smart and business-shrewd, and that they have been rewarded by trawling through ebay to find unbelievable deals. Because of this, they don’t realize they have been scammed even after getting the items, and most of these people leave positive feedback because they simply don’t have the technical knowledge or critical approach to figure out they have been scammed. The battle plan is to shut the sellers down, but to do that, we have to obtain evidence from the buyers, who are often oblivious to what happened. To get evidence, we have to communicate with the buyers. I know how to find the buyer IDs and to press the contact button, but ebay won’t let me send a message to them to ask about their experience or anything else. I get this message each time I try:
“Attention!
We have determined you are trying to contact an eBay member with whom you are not currently involved in an open transaction. For the protection of the eBay community, we sometimes block these types of communication. To prevent this occurrence from happening in the future, we recommend the following:
If you are a seller, respond to all bidder questions before the auction ends.
If you are trying to contact the seller of an item that has not yet ended go to the item page and click the “Ask seller a question” link.
If you are the winning buyer of an item go to your My eBay page under the items I’ve Won section. Click the action drop down menu and choose the “contact seller” action.
If you are a seller trying to contact your winning buyer, go to My eBay and under the Items I’ve Sold section, click the action drop down menu. Choose the “contact buyer” action.
Reply to seller/bidder through personal email provider (if the sender has not hidden their email address).
Thank you for your understanding.”
So, I can not communicate with the people being scammed because ebay blocks it. This makes the battle plan unworkable. If anyone can tell me on how I am to follow this months marching orders when I can’t talk to ebay members, please let me know.

Hi Chris,
You’ve raised some good points. So to assist you with marching orders and also other potential soldiers aka fake flash angels, a little guide is being written up.
It is important to know how to avoid eBay grenades and land mines.
KittyFireFlash said
The guide is now available. See https://sosfakeflash.wordpress.com/2009/09/11/how-to-warn-others-on-ebay-as-a-fake-flash-angel-fight-back-against-fake-mp-players-memory-cards-usb-flash-drives-a-guide/#more-5570

I know I’m responding to a very old comment, but something just reminded me of this thread, and I figured I’d drop in and post. 😛
“Also the drives are labelled with California Flea Markets. I’ve seen drives with the name on Ebay before. Has anyone else seen drives with this label?” – I haven’t seen flash-drives with this label, but I was just looking at a link to a gadget, and noticed a website logo that carried the same name.
It’s here: http://www.myzipitwireless.com/ . It’s not the same logo, though, as you can see. It’s probably just a coincidence, but an odd one nonetheless. 😛
Randy said
I’ve seen this logo before. Also see this posting.

Hmm. I just scrolled down on that site I linked to, Randy. Isn’t that the same eBay ID? I didn’t see that before.
Randy said
Looks like the same to me.
The EBay id aam2003spd09 refers to their store as “California FleaMarkets”.
The site you linked to myzipitwireless indicates eBay Seller with 100% positive Feedback. User id: aam2003spd09
Looks like they are related.

aam2003spd09 slipped through the net:

feedback was revised. It seems inquiries were received for aam2003spd09, a number of potential bidders did not buy. Told sosfakeflash no longer handle inquiries because enough information available for bidders to judge and use common sense.

The question about aam2003spd09 is did the seller refund others buyers of the fake drives that were sold. Why did the seller not take down the listing when advised the drives were fake and why did the seller not respond to warning messages?
