Toward A Fake Flash Drive Free World – No More Counterfeits – No More Data Loss

waheguruson Ebay Fake Flash Seller Alert – India

Posted by KittyFireFlash on August 2, 2009

waheguruson is an eBay seller of Counterfeit (Fake) Flash USB drives. Registered in India, waheguruson sold counterfeit Kingston DataTravelers and is currently under eBay suspension.

In India, Kingston Technologies is highly regarded by consumers. Wary of fake and counterfeit flash drives, buyers seek out this brand. Unfortunately Kingston is being targeted by fraudsters in India. Many counterfeits are found in markets, sold by fellow bus passengers offering to share their great “deals” just acquired and by local eBay sellers.

Ebay Fake Flash Sellers Alert India – A Mystery In New Delhi makes for interesting reading.

The FrankenFlash project is aware the issue is serious in India for fake capcity usb flash drives, mp players and memory cards, but finds it being under reported. InspectorTech noticed many frauded consumers in India seek assistance at the fixfakeflash site, attempting to restore items to their true capacity.

The true capacity for fakes in India is smaller on average, rarely is the real size above 512MB. The highest true size found so far is only 2GB. This is a terrible disappointment for a buyer. Tiny flash drive storage chips super sized through digital manipulation of the usb controller chip. Data loss more severe as it begins the moment the actual capacity is exceeded.

The FrankenFlash Project invites our fellow victims in India to report in and to comment at our sites.

This is a global problem. We need all victims in all regions of the world to share their experiences. Contribute to promote awareness for your countries.
