Posted by KittyFireFlash on July 30, 2009

i_1st_store is ebay fake flash seller ionedream. Caught selling false capacity usb flash pendrives, the seller has just changed id name to avoid further detection. On July 29th, 2009 SOSFakeFlash issued this consumer alert: ionedream Ebay Fake Flash Seller High Alert – Hong Kong

Unrepentant, i_1st_store aka ionedream continues to list these 8GB false capacity usb flash drives. Instead of removing the listings the fraudlent seller changed the id name.

Please contact any eBay members who left positive feedback for any 8GB flash drive, warn them to test immediately to avoid data loss and raise a dispute if the item fails the advertised capacity.

I too got a fake flash from ionedream, but after mailing to him, I immediately got a full refund without having to return the flash. Also I contacted other buyers and most of them have received a good 8 GB USB flash. It seems that ionedream was a victim of fraud of his supplier. The common used trick to let see/test him some good flash drives and then selling a box of them with random numbers of fake flash drives in it. It would be very time consuming for the ebay seller to test all the drives seperately (more than 1 hour per drive) before sending them to the buyers. My issue was solved without any problems. After the refund I asked ionedream to send me a good 8GB drive and am willing to return the refund. So happend, I received a good working USB flash. His apologies looked very sincere.

    Hi Frank,

The biggest problem with i_1st_store aka ionedream is having run to change his id name. A seller who claims to be a victim and who is “Upset” does not do something like this. It basically prevents coming up with the sellers information inside of eBay.

Who set the standard by which other eBay sellers who say “I am a victim”, to be measured? It was not by eBay buyer victims, but other eBay sellers who “accidentally” sold fake flash items.

A seller who discovers he sold fakes, contacts buyers to warn them and refunds. He also removes any further listings while he investigates and pursues legal action against his supplier.

At the moment he continues to list and sell at prices of $12.50 US. Generally that would mean he is determined to lose money. The price of flash chips has not really gone down, in fact they rose in spring.

As for the mixed box. No we are not suprised. All the photo’s of fakes shown? Fact is, there are “different” boxes or shelves. We have noticed on occasion, the more a buyer pays the larger actual capacity they will receive. Did you know in the old days of 32GB fakes when people paid at least $70 us they got an 8GB true capacity? Now as bid prices are much lower so is the actual flash chip on board.

Some eBay sellers, Frank, assume that because they are victims they do not have to live up to their responsibilities to their buyer victims. This seller is just one of so many seen in 19 months.

If i_1st_store aka ionedream had chosen an honest supplier he would not be in the current situation. But he like many eBay buyers wanted “attactive prices” – and that means only one thing….

The one thing all victims say as a result of their experience?

If it is too good to be true it usually is.

This site will have to go on and on and on publishing alerts, until everyone understands the real costs of nand flash chips.

Yes, this is one of the sellers who has changed his name. There are 7 so far that have done this in our last inspection.
