Why is it that ordinary ebayers like ourselves can learn to spot fraud fairly early on, but it seems ebay can’t – even when we point it out to them?? I thought they were supposed to have a fraud prevention team!!
If ebay’s fraud prevention team exists at all I don’t think there are more than about four or five people in it! If they were serious about fraud prevention how would they let someone defraud so many ebayers?
On another note – why is it (as they have the sales records) that ebay do not ensure that all buyers who have been defrauded get their money back? I suspect I know the answer!!!

I ordered an SD card from adiandian3 thru eBay. I found out it was a fake and reported it. It didn’t take long for PayPal to respond that I was entitled to a refund but I would have to send the item back. I read thru this web site before responding to paypal. Armed with the knowledge that I learned from here I called PayPal and told them that the person who I sold this item committed fraud and that it would be against the law for me to send this back to them because it is considered evidence. I also explained that if the person received the item back they would just turn around and sell it again which would defraud another of their customers. The first person that I talked to could not help me. He was pleasant but it was beyond what he would approve. He suggested that he escalate the issue to a superior. I explained the situation to the next person who came on the call. After they heard what I had to say they told me that they would issue me a full credit with the understanding that I will destroy the SD card.
The seller who I purchased from had their account turned off by eBay so they must have known there was a problem with the seller. This may have helped my situation when talking to PayPal but the first person that I talked to said they didn’t have that information in front of them and that all they knew was the info that I provided in the claim.

Paypal wanted me to get it externally verified within 10 days, but I received the email while on holiday, when I returned after the 10days I requested an extention due to holiday, but just received email stating the case is close due to me not supplying requested info within 10 days, even though I was on holiday.
Will try again with above info
