Toward A Fake Flash Drive Free World – No More Counterfeits – No More Data Loss

Ebay Begins To Address Issue Fake Flash Device Sellers

Posted by KittyFireFlash on January 24, 2009

Evidence is now appearing that Fake Flash Sellers of false capacity MP Players, Memory Cards and USB Flash drives are being removed by eBay. Listings are down. Many sellers based in the Orient have stopped selling – anything. There are still individual listings for known fakes appearing in the United States and United Kingdom. Canada is showing signs of becoming active in offering these items. SOSFakeFlash is not sure if this is a reroute attempt to continue or if it is simply recent acquisition from disreputable wholesalers.

If you have bought any MP Player, Memory Card or USB Flash drive on eBay in the last three months you should test the item immediately for it’s actual capacity against the advertised capacity. Report any false capacity device to SOSFakeFlash without delay – see Report A Fake. You have little time as the evidence trails are disappearing.

To Claim, To Help and to learn more about Brand Name Counterfeits…

If you find you have a false capacity item – do not use it as you risk losing your files. Immediately submit a claim if you still have the item on your won list. If you don’t you can go to your PayPal account and rummage through your transactions to find details to make a claim. PayPal has 180 day windows to raise an investigation against a fake flash seller. If you seller is on our list, you have access to evidence. You also have evidence with your test results.

This battle to rid eBay of these dangerous items is now in the the month. The progress in January is astonishing and welcomed. The vacuum cleaners are busy on eBay!

Help. Get out your mop and pail.

Report any fake flash device you bought. Look for suspect listings and contact sellers to TEST for true capacity immediately. Advise them to stop listing if they determine they don’t have items with genuine capacity to avoid getting caught in the cross-hairs of eBay and eBay members. Some are likely to be seller victims.

With the decrease in listings Fake Kingston and Fake Sony Micro Vault usb drives are more easy to spot.

So i decided to send messages to sellers. Ask them questions. used your big master report. told them if they don’t reply to me it is an answer.

As I see it ebay is going to allow these sellers do what they do. afterall it is money for them. They give a sh*t about people like you and me.

Will let you know what the crap sellers say to my questions.

    Hello Curious,
Ebay has often attacked those who try to warn buyers about fake flash fraud. However, we refuse to give in. We are determined to wipe out this fraud on ebay either with or without help from ebay and paypal. They have not seemed to understand that eliminating fraud on ebay is in their own interests. However, over the last two or three weeks they have begun to take action against fraudsters more quickly – so perhaps the penny has finally dropped.
As a result of ordinary ebayers coming together to fight this fraud the number of fake flash drives being listed gradually dropped over the last 6 months. Progress has been more rapid in the last 6 weeks or so. The more ebayers question sellers about their drives, report suspect sellers to ebay, warn buyers if they bought a drive from a known fraudster and post comments on blogs about new suspects – the the more success we will have.

after finding this site yesterday, i have been on a crusade to help out Ebay buyers. i emailed the max (5) yesterday and so far have only heard from 1. in all the emails i sent i sent a link to this site so that the buyer can view “the list” of fake flash sellers. the one guy that has contacted me back was very pleased that i have informed him about getting scammed. i even contacted his seller NDSPRO and went off on him for selling fakes items. i hope to hear from more buyers i contact to set the blaze under Ebays feet to hopefully have them get off their asses and finally do something. i also have contacted Ebay today and told it like it is about these sellers and for them to stop the fraud or at least protect any buyers for international sales. i basically told them to stop being whores for the fees they get and to look out for the good people (buyers). we’ll see what they have to say if and when they write me back.

I have found that NDSPRO sells about 1 out of 20 or so REAL, as I have asked a few to find out, but the majority said they are having problems with the files and that memory is corrupt (bad sectors), I only found out about this after I ordered one from him. It should be arriving withing the next few days, when I get it I will post results to see if I am one of the lucky few, which i highly doubt.

Anon, that is another tactic used by fake flash memory sellers. Occasionally they will send a real one.

It does not matter to SOSFakeFlash anymore. A zero tolerance policy was introduced in summer 2009.

Because of what we have learned in the last two years and the data we have collected. What is first, is the best interest of the global public. For most of us, it is not the issue of money that people loose, it is the data and the files.

If 1,000,000 fake flash memory chips are sold each month:

then something has to be done! What do you say to a person who has lost information they can not recover or have elsewhere? We don’t know what we can say to the person. Horrible.

Everyone, this is a subject that a lot of people don’t want known or published on the internet. Our response? To bad. If we have information we will publish.

Let us know your results, Anon when the item arrives.

If anyone knows what we can say to somebody who has lost their files or their precious information, let us know.

We need all the help we can get. Please take the time to write your experience and publish at at internet site. It helps to make people aware of the issue in your country. Let them know about SOSFakeFlash! Write in your own language. SOSFakeFlash is for everyone, not just those who understand or read the English language!

Online translators are amazing, they help a lot. The public arond the world need to be informed, do your part.

Wow! It makes a difference. Help others in your country!
