Posted by KittyFireFlash on January 14, 2009

516erenkoy01is an eBay seller of Counterfeit (Fake) Flash USB drives. Based in the United States this is one of the most slick fake flash sellers ever. He is very clever. Over 960 flash drives were sold. He is currently lying low. When an eBayer found him out, what did he do? Refund at lightening speed, apologizing, claiming defect. By doing this, few claims hit PayPals radar. Nice is it not? If one person in a 100 crys foul, he is still 99 drive sales ahead. He is accomplished in his lies – so many eBayers believed him and did not leave negative feedback allowing more victims to fall into his profit pit. 516erenkoy01is first 24 sales where for boots. Was that his calling card? The intention to walk all over eBayers?

One victim said:

I purchased this drive believing it was a 16GB. Turns out it’s only 4GB. I filed a dispute with PayPal and the seller immediately refunded my purchase price. The refund will not recover the 11GB of files that I have already lost because of this fake drive.

Another gave his mailing address:

Address on mailing envelope:

Nilufer Unzun
2320 Hempstead Turnpike
East Meadow, NY 11554-0000

That address is near Nassau University Medical Center. He appears to be laying low at the moment but he will probably resurface.

All these tens of thousands of fake flashes have REALLY amazed me. eBay seem to be actually condoning the selling of fakes, just for the sake of profit. eBays Trust & Safety are really looking after their share holders and NOT their customers. No wonder that eBay are hiding bidders ID’s. It’s a great way of trying to protect eBays profits under the PRETENCE of protecting their customer base. I wonder if eBay built the Titanic?

Ebyay may BE the The Titanic if they don’t ban the use of hidden IDs by those selling flash drives. The “privacy” afforded by this applies more to the seller than the buyer – it does not protect buyers – just makes it easier for them to become victims of fraud. Private listings were intended for very high value items such as houses or cars, medicines and items such as bondage gear that people might like to keep private. Who wants to keep the fact that they bought a flash drive private? A seller might, however, be very keen to keep the fact that he is selling fake flash private!

It’s not the private auctions that protect fake flash sellers. It’s eBay’s hiding of bidder ids, making it impossible to warn victims until AFTER they’ve left feedback, which is always positive. eBay doesn’t want warnings to reach victims until after it’s too late. eBay won’t post testing info in memory auctions. This way the seller’s feedback score remains excellent. 516erenkoy01 has about twenty follow-up feedbacks saying “fake” but they don’t affect his feedback score. He used an alternate id huseyinkisla (another fake flash seller) until someone figured out the connection, then he deregistered it. Right now he’s probably reformatting his hard drive and getting a new ip address in order to start a whole new identity. It goes on and on…

I totally agree with what you saying. Ebay is the main problem where they just shut one eye and pretent nothing happen. We still have no idea why ebay even allow hidden bidder id’s after the end of the auction even tho they are “not private”. We notice this has increased since back to the first time we start (May~June).

It ture I still don’t understand why ebay is not fixing their issues allow one person with so many ID’s. Maybe in this case we can cut down the number of identical sales with different id yet they are the same person.

Maybe ebay should really start to listen to their community instead of turning their head to the $$$
