December 16th, 2008 – we have 2 eBay listings confirmed fake.
memoryking626 offered lots of 5 and 10 units in 16GB. Here is the “Spin” from his listings:
1. USA SELLER
2. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE
3. SHIP WITHIN 24 HOURS
4. LIFETIME WARRANTY
5. 100% SATISFACTION GUARANTEE
6. RETURN POLICY
7. INSURANCE AVAILABLE
8. BRAND NEW PRODUCTS — ALWAYS TESTED OUT FIRST BEFORE POSTING
9. WE TAKE OUR OWN PICTURES OF OUR
PRODUCTS, THEY ARE NOT TAKEN FROM THE WEB!(We are here to service our customers, and if you are not 100% satisfied please contact us immediately so we can solve the issue)
As first glance the sellers claims seem reassuring. Might might appear memoryking626 did not know what he was selling or naive. However the claim #8 – “always tested first before shipping” is a false claim – the 16 GB drive is not 16GB as advertised. It’s true capacity is only 4 GB. Plugging in a drive and looking at the reported sized is not testing! Fake Flash has been digitally altered to “appear” a size – lie. Only proper testing for capacity will confirm that the drive it what it claims to be.
