Toward A Fake Flash Drive Free World – No More Counterfeits – No More Data Loss

mdongdisk119 Ebay Fake Flash Seller Alert China

Posted by KittyFireFlash on December 18, 2008

mdongdisk119 is an eBay Fake Flash drive seller. Based in China, mdongdisk119 has unleashed a plague of reprogrammed counterfeit usb flash drives on the global. More than 1100+ fakes have been sold so far – there are many victims about to suffer the consequences of data loss. Raking in a profit of more than £10730 so far, this seller demands buyers leave positive feedback as a condition of refund.

To an eBay member who left the following feedback:

FAKE! INTENTIONALLY COUNTERFEIT. SUSPEND THIS FRAUD FOR LIFE!

mdongdisk119 replied:

told lie, said will leave us positive in email, why negative?

What are we missing. Is the lie that the flash drive was a counterfeit? Or the lie that the buyer being blackmailed to leave postive feedback as a condition of refund chose to do the right thing and warn fellow ebayers?

Another eBay member said:

16GB Drive was actually a 2GB drive formatted to appear larger than it was

mdongdisk119 replied:

agree refund in email, why negative ?we are good seller

It would appear that mdongdisk119 believes he is a good seller. He is. He is a good seller of fake flash drives, selling over 1100 fakes for £10730 in two months. He offered terrific value, selling 16GB counterfeit drives as low as £5 or $10 dollars. Most victims of fake flash pay a great deal more for the counterfeit flash drives they acquired.

Demanding postive feedback as a condition of a refund is a clear indication of both guilt and blackmail. SOSFakeFlash has repeatedly warned that many devious sellers engage in this behavior on eBay. Members are not giving in to this as you can clearly see:

mdongdisk119 is now (in addition to two models of generic fakes) listing what appear to be 2GB Kingston drives re-progrmammed and re-labeled as 16GB drives. The items listed below were reported to ebay:

Listing Policy Breaches > Counterfeits and breach of copyright > Potential trademark infringement > Other replica or counterfeit items

    220331691408, 220331691439, 220331691490, 220331691548, 220331691590,
    220332328830, 220332329427, 220332329472, 220332329510, 220332329543

Message: Prob re-programmed Kingston drives. Color/label wrong, 2 not 16GB see K site! Get fraudster off ebay

    Got this really useful auto-reply

It would be helpful if other ebayers could report these listings – the sale of fraudulently programmed brand name drives is probably (given previous lawsuits) a step too far for ebay to tolerate, so this seems to me to be the quickest way to get this fraudster kicked off ebay.

I think ebay really doesn’t want us to report fraud – if they did they’d give us enough words to fully outline the problem!

    Hi tired altruist,

Hmmm it looks like you are getting the dark circles under your eyes like us. Many of us operate in a loose confederation, for reasons obvious. This is a very hot and nasty subject.

The ancients have been fighting fake flash since the end of April 2008 and are pretty worn out. Fresh troops are needed!

We have seen the eBay and PayPal are not able to deal with the problem. It almost seems as if the fake flash sellers have them dancing on a string.

FlashRanger and FakeStopper have done a lot of direct contact with eBay. Telephone calls and telephone calls and telephone calls. They also did the report a listing thing on the bottom of the pages for auctions and got pretty good responses. Did you use the auction pages to do the reporting or a general option at eBay? It is possible that eBay has made some changes for the worse. They have done a lot of annoying redesign. The worse is inspecting a sellers sales for only 15 days. Fortunately other tools exist!

mdongdisk119 is very bad news. We’ve got 4 investigated fakes now. Investigated fakes is only the tip of the truth, it is why we also include a negative feedback tool for a seller with every alert people can click on.

We are running another dump of sellers to see what he has sold since October, 2008. It will probably take a few hours to run, digging isn’t easy.

tired altruist, you are very correct that eBay would like people to disappear and not report fraud. It means allocating people to address the problem and they had to lay off 1200 people as they aren’t getting new business. It’s not hard to see why!

So victims of mdongdisk119 what can you do?

    1) contact those who bought drives like yours. get them to test their drives and if fake (and they will be), march to Paypal with a dispute. have them leave negative follow up feedback with the truth to their orginal positive. have them come to sosfakeflash and use the report a fake tab to have their information entered in the database.

    2) collect listings of winners, wait 5-6 days (you must not interfer with the auction). contact the winners and advise them to test the drives when they arrive. explain the drive you got from the seller was a fake – false capacity. tell them to leave NEGATIVE FEEDBACK! Trying to use the feedback as a weapon for a refund does little. This seller thinks that if he refunds you are supposed to leave postive. Nutty! So he can have more victims?

When negatives pour in, THEN ebay pays attention. Odd, but this is how it seems to work. Many victims have organized to bring down a fake flash seller – mdongdisk119 should be one of them.

If don’t think it is possible – see the posts on 3totrade. Ever wondered why there are 103 documented fakes? And how his other id’s got zapped to? We only have one major id left of the “Don Of Fake Flash” to expose (He had it quiet in sleep mode).

So it is possible to get rid of a seller. 3ToTrade though he could outsmart everyone. We never forgot what he did in April and May and we spend the summer and early fall making his life hell. It was hard work. But it was also fun. Why? Sending a message that Powersellers are not untouchable and that victims can fight back.

Getting rid of fake flash on eBay is not easy. True we don’t see the whacky days of 37,000 listings but there are still too many.

With over 1100 drives sold by October and who knows how many now…there have to be victims out there that want would be willing to do something about it.

Hint, contacting the victims who did leave negative is a start. The current members have their hands full. Are there any fresh troops out there willing to take on mdongdisk119? Or should he be allowed to claim even more victims and keep everyone’s money?

The seller mdongdisk119 is now deregistered and ebay has removed his listings. If you bought a drive from this seller test it with h2testw and follow kittyfireflash’s advice immediately.

  5. 12mitya said

eBay does not allow to leave feedback for derigistered member… And PayPal demand sending item back to China as condition to refund (and recorded delivery tracable on internet)- it will remain very little from refundidng… PayPal does not give any other option – just provide trace code for delivery… they are definitely on seller side in dispute – I should pay return recorded delivery – more then fiver – and get nothing, however seller will get my money or stick back to sell to the other victim… He is criminal – I will be punished… “Complaint against PayPal” option is blocked – their site just redirect you on registration/login page… Did anyone try to suit somebody in court?
