Toward A Fake Flash Drive Free World – No More Counterfeits – No More Data Loss

diaoweifeng2008 Ebay Fake Flash Seller Alert – Deregisters – China

Posted by KittyFireFlash on November 12, 2008

diaoweifeng2008 was a seller of counterfeit flash drives on eBay – this seller id was designed to “Hit and Run” in selling counterfeit flash drives. Based in China diaoweifeng2008 appeared on eBay September 21, 2008 and disappeared on November 9th, 2008. In three short weeks almost 950 fake flash drives(8GB and 16GB) were dumped on unsuspecting buyers around the world. All 16GB models were hidden behind private auction listings – a violation of eBay’s intent for this listing type.

diaoweifeng2008 has demonstrated how easy it is to get around eBay and PayPal. It also sends a message from this region of the world that they don’t take eBay seriously. eBay will be their pipeline to distribute fake flash around the world and rake in profit. eBay not clever. They very much clever.

Fake flash sellers adapt quickly to any attempts by eBay or anybody else to stop them. Exploiting the weaknesses that exist in eBay they have send of plague of fake flash and data loss around the world. diaoweifeng2008 has demonstated this all too well.

If you bought a drive from diaoweifeng2008, you can still claim.

Do not delay. Hold both eBay and Paypal accountable. We are tired of repeating that if they can not stop the selling of fake flash – they must ban the sale of such items on eBay. It is a responsibility to protect members not only from the loss of money but from data loss which is even worse. Excuses of saying that there are too many listings, we can’t check them all – will not do. Allowing the sale of “data poison” is wrong.

Just how much money did diaoweifeng2008 make in a three week selling spree?

Items Sold: 93.06%
Total Value Sold: £12202.19
Total Value Shipping: £0.00
Total Value Not Sold: £2721.51

1328 items were sold. A few MP Players (probably also fake) and oddly….foot pads? diaoweifeng2008 should have kept the foot pads, for the tired feet stomping all over eBay, PayPal and members.

If you are a person who bought from diaoweifeng2008 and left negative feedback and have an address for this seller, even an email address. Please send it to us. Also to the law enforcement agencies in your country and even the Hong Kong Police.

diaoweifeng2008 had no regard for anyone – even using black mail against eBay members:

2 / 2 usb defective keys !!! gives total refund against 5 stars feedback. Buyer: **tootie** ( 20) Nov-09-08 10:22 — — Private

Just how much abuse should eBay members accept? Is this the improved “Buyer Experience” that eBay began promoting in Spring of 2008?
