SOSFakeFlash News November 5th, 2008. Update on Guides, Report Fakes, eBay Warning sellers of flash drives about listing only noncounterfeit items, True flash drives.

SOSFakeFlash News November 20081105:

1) We have been doing our best to keep up with the volume of requests for guides. At the moment we only have an English version or a Russian Version. We don’t offer computer generated translations anymore – not accurate enough. You can obtain one by writing to sosfakeflashdrive@gmail.com A new edition will not be available for several months – the fake flash fires have the first priority.

2) Continue to report fakes – to our email address with full details. If urgent – leave a short comment on a post. If you have a new browser you can subscribe to comments not only posts in a RSS Feed. This is a great way to keep informed

3) There is an early report that eBay is starting to post warnings to sellers as they list flash devices. We do not know if this is regional (only in a certain part of the world) or across the board. We suspect it is regional – given that the listings from sellers in the Orient are not decreasing. See Flash Education 101 and also About Fake 64GB USB Pendrives – SONY MICRO VAULT and More for more details on what China can actually manufacture at the moment. FakeStopper has interesting details on the wholesale cost for a 16GB drive in the the latter post.

4) We have news of a true 32GB drive and have requested that the person reporting provide us with details. At SOSFAKEFLASH we would like to post something postive. So far all we receive are reports of fakes. We have not found anyone who tested a drive that gave us happy news. Did you have a drive that was good? Especially one bought on eBay. True drives have to be there, somewhere. We suspect that they will not be the dream prices that victims of fake flash were hoping for. Let us know if you bought a drive and it was the true advertised capacity so we can add them to the database as well and then publish a list.

5) itchee98 – fake flash seller does another disappearing act – registering again from eBay – see post published today.
