go2besthk is an eBay Seller of Fake Flash drives and MP Players. This seller has been busy frauding eBayers since February 2008 and is skilled at evasion, crocodile tears and attempting to fool eBayers about the truth by claiming manufacturing defects. Fake Flash is not a manufacturing defect but illegal reprogramming of controllers to lie about the true size of a flash drive!
One eBayer to be known as Radarman, decided to corner and force go2besthk to refund in Full. No, Radarman did not return the drive. You will find this story interesting and useful in dealing with a fake flash seller on eBay.

Checked item? We wonder what is meant by this? Checking to see it is able to lie to the operating system and report a capacity larger than it truely was? We do know it certainly was not “checked” using a software program such as H2testw 1.4, otherwise the seller would not have dared to send it.

Many fake flash sellers wave their feedback score as evidence that they are not fake flash sellers. The fact is, the flash drives do have a true capacity but it is much smaller than the advertised capacity. The real capacity is usually enought to fool most buyers with the quick tests they do. It is later, when they exceed the true capacity that data corruption occurs. It does not usually happen before they reach the limit of the real capacity. For this reason you will find that fake flash sellers can have very high positive scores. When a buyer has left a postive score they feel that they can do little. Too late. In many cases if it is not over the 45 day PayPal time limit or the eBay 60 day limit they can do something. If in the 60 days they can at least leave a follow up feedback stating that they have discovered a fake!

Radarman confirmed he received his refund from seller go2besthk. It required a tenis match of emails – back and forth. Radarman won. Not only did he win, but the seller received a clear message. We don’t think go2besthk was prepared for an eBayer like Radarman.
Radarman not only remained firm but he carefully and patiencentlyy repeated the facts. The seller did not really think that Radarman would actually send an email to the Hong Kong Police. He was fair. He sent the seller the email he was going to send so the seller had time to digest it. He also unnerved the seller with a bcc email copy. That is, a blind copy of what he sent to the police. go2besthk didn’t expect that from a buyer. Probably no victim of his auctions ever did this before.
You probably noticed how Radarman changed his approach in dealing with the seller. He read the article:

at our site and he used the information to deal with go2besthk. He forwarded the communications to SOSFakeFlash hoping that it would be helpful to other eBayers in their cases with fake flash sellers on eBay.

I know I might be sneaky, but even though you have agree not to leave feedback, you can still leave negative feedback. This seller is still selling fake 16gb drive. In order to get his score down, you do need to leave negative.
Please note, seller cannot leave buyer negative feedback so you save on that.

My only concern is the seller deleted the auction after I payed, ebay emailed me with this info. I proceeded to open a dispute with paypal regards this, but it was for a non delivery, as it had not turned up. Now finally its turned up, but its a fake. Not sure how to go about this with paypal, as the dispute system is not the best , there seems to be now way to get in contact with them linked from the claim already registered, as now i need to change the dispute reasen. Also I have no details of the seller to send it back for refund, as the auction is no longer available on ebay.

This one is a tough call. When dealing with eBay fake flash sellers and following all the rules you can end up with nothing but headaches.
So….
You filed a dispute for “Non Delivery”. Well your test shows shows “Non Delivery” of the advertised capacity of 64GB.
You did not recieve 64GB one way or the other. Your best option under the circumstances it to leave the paypal claim as is – non delivery. 64GB did not arrive at your door. The details you have mentioned are a very clear indication of fraud.
Demand your refund. If paypal gives you problems, escalate. If you paid by credit card, call the company and indicate fraud to do a reversal. It is much easier and you can be sure paypal will yank the funds from the fake flash memory seller in a hurry if your credit card company removes the funds from paypal.
No one should buy any flash memory devices on eBay using funding from a bank account!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is better to use a credit card. If there is fraud you stand a better chance of getting your refund by calling the credit card company. eBay hates this. Paypal hates this. Fake flash memory sellers hate this. Victims Love this! as credit card companies are more interested in your business then the other three are!
Under the circumstances, Dean, stick to your original paypal claim. If you funded with a credit card, consider this route if paypal does not live up to the “buyer protection”.

Wow is it really worth all this fuss over $16?! You guys really deserve it for not throwing in another few bucks and head to your local electronics store. But no you rather buy it online and knowing it has a high chance of being fake the week or two of waiting for delivery…

That’s not really what its about Qtah. When you pay $80 say for a Phillips (say) 16GB MP3 player you expect it to work and actually HAVE 16GB memory, yes? So paying $33 (in one of my cases) for a supposed 16GB lookalike seems like a good deal, yes? Especially when things like “contains Samsung 16GB Flash memory” are being mentioned. That’s a reasonable price for buying direct from what amounts to China (where 90% of these players including ipods are made),the delivery time is to be expected unless you pay extra. So a just under half price deal and a 2 week wait seems reasonable to most people. What is annoying is getting an item that is worth A LOT LESS then the price paid because it has only 2GB memory and not 16GB. A similar capacity mp3 players was sold in Asda/Walmart for less than $20 recently, so if I had known I was only getting a 2GB player for $33 I would not have bothered, I would have gone to Asda/Walmart and got one with the money back guarantee and no hassles. The point is this is organised crime on a grand scale, its deception and the manufacturers of these chips MUST be in on it. Given the very low cost price of stuff in China there remains the feeling that somewhere Mr Chinese Big Chip Man is making loads of dosh at our expense. It must be stopped.

Plainly selling an item described as “16GB” which is obviously crafted to appear as such but which actually contains only 2GB is a trade description violation and is prosecutable under HK law.
