Whatcools – eBay Fake Flash Seller – Lies And Deception
Posted by KittyFireFlash on September 14, 2008
eBayers continue to battle eBay fake flash seller whatcools. The lies and deception are amazing. This seller does not seem to be aware that eBayer know exactly what he is up to. He does know that for some reason, usb flash drives are being tested properly the moment they arrive.
He knows his seller score is being damaged. Negative and Neutral feedback is pouring in. Still he tries to deceive his buyers.
whatcools as we have revealed is part of a counterfeit flash drive ring operating on eBay, controlled by the master id, 3ToTrade – Don Of Fake Flash in the Orient.
whatcools is pleading innocence again and again to eBayers filing disputes at PayPal.
- How is it that this id began listing the day after eBayers managed to shut down the listings for 3ToTrade – by drawing to much attention at the PayPal dispute console?
- How is it that when disputes started pouring in to PayPal whatcools switched his eBay auctions to “Private Auctions?”
- Why did the number of listings per day suddenly escalate from 9 to 18?
If an eBay seller is “innocent”, the first thing the seller would do is test the drives using the same software his customers used to verify their claims. If the results confirm what they are saying, would not an honest seller pull the listings to get to the bottom of the problem? We don’t think an honest person would suddenly switch to abusing eBay’s Private Auction Category or suddenly double the number of auctions for these drives.
Here is a report from eBayer MelodyOfTruth, his story reveals the typical melody sung by whatcools.
I have entered my paypal dispute and been contacted by Ngai Kin Wong (whatcools) asking me to send back the drive. I have replied saying my lawyer has told me it would be a criminal offence to post a counterfeit drive and even more so to send it through international customs and asking for the full refund. His reply was more or less the same.
Dear MelodyOfTruth,
Sorry for all the inconvenience caused.
I feel so sorry to tell you that i can’t refund the payment to you right now.
As you see .we have explained that affair happened by accident.
If the item really not as described.
We need return the item back to the manufactory first.
Since they can’t pay any loss without proof .
If you escalate that dispute, paypal will ask you to ship the item back with a tracking No.They have already held your payment.
And refund will be send to you only after they checked that we have received it .Hope can get your kind understanding.
Regards

I presume that several of you have also done likewise. It appears that I now need to “end communication and escalate my dispute to a claim” and have looked at the procedure. I think the best option is “I have evidence indicating that the seller may be fraudulent” I am not sure how I can show the evidence of this group in 2000 words.
.
.
Thanks again to all the ebay angels for your assistance so far!
Regards,
MelodyOfTruth
You will notice how whatcools denys any involvement and responsibility. Our investigation has proven there is no accident here. In terms of evidence, discussion with trade authorities in Europe indicate that the software used for testing – is the evidence. Any third party would do the same testing as these eBayers did, with the same software and perhaps even take the drive apart for futher verifcation (we don’t recommend this until the claim as been settled at the moment). Also notice the confidence level regarding PayPal – they know PayPal’s flaws and are happy to exploit them.
whatcools and other eBay sellers in this fake flash ring are most happy to torture eBayers. Is any wonder then, why eBay is not able to grow, to add new members? We don’t know what apple eBay and PayPal ate, we hope it is not the one that leads to a 100 years sleep. SOSFlakeFlash is not prepared to be Prince Charming.

Anybody who has purchased a fake drive from WhatCools – you may be interested to know that I have just recieved a full refund. I have included details of the dispute below:-
P.S. Thanks very much to all at this site and especially Katherine who has helped me along the way.
I recently purchased this USB pen drive which was advertised as 32GB, but after testing it is clearly only 7.8GB. Also when trying to read and write to it the files corrupt so the device clearly fails general usage.

Hi friend,
I’m very sorry for this late reply.
I’m very sad to hear it’s just 7.8GB.
My QC had tested it before shipped it out, all should be in good condition.
Do you format it before use it?
If not, please have try.
If you still can’t use it, please help to ship it back for checking, ok? I’d like to full refund or ship a new one to you for sure, please don’t worry about it.
Wish you a good day.
Best regards,
WC+

I have indeed formatted the drive prior to testing using H2testw v1.4 which shows that the drive size is in fact not correct.
The drive is clearly fake, and I note that there are many other customers who have purchased from you reporting the same problems. As such I am not willing to send it back through the post as it is an offence to send the item through international customs.
I would therefore appreciate a full refund from yourself including postage or I will be forced to escalate my complaint.
Regards
Lee
